" Rise and shine beautiful " I hear Adam say in a soft voice
I slowly open my eyes and let them adjust to the sunlight invading my eyes's irises , Adam's sitting beside me looking exhausted .
I smile " Good morning "
" Morning beautiful " he says smiling brightly
" Did you get any sleep last night ? "
a frown finds its way on my face as guilt tears me apart , first Emma's aattack and then Adam being terribly exhausted
" Don't worry about me , I couldn't sleep even if I wanted to"
I sigh heavily " How's Emma ?"
" She's as good as her normal self from what I heard " he smirks
I sit straight on the bed and rub my temples , Adam touches my shoulder gently
" What's bothering you ? "
I gulp " I just feel like all of this is my fault "
He shakes his head " Believe me when I say this , Elda we all chose to protect you , we are a team , all of us in this institute are obligated to protect eachother and that's why we train to fight , so no it wasn't your fault , Emma chose your life not hers and thats her choice " he takes a deep breath after finishing his speech , he is technically right , but I'm still feeling guilty of all of this
" I just don't want anyone to get hurt because of me "
" If you were in her position , you would've done the same thing "
I sigh as I try to stand up , but a wave of dizziness washes over me making me stumble and sit down in the bed
" You need to rest you're still weak " he says sternly
" I need to see how Emma is doing "
" Give me a minute " he says as he walks out of the room leaving me with a nightmare called overthinking , but before I could drown in my own thoughts Emma barged in the room giving me a bone crushing hug
" How you doing girl " she says cheerfully
" Says the girl who was on the verge of dying last night " I try to joke although all I really want to do is hit my head repeatedly aginst the wall
" Oh come on , don't be dramatic , you saved my life " she gives me a grateful look
" Emma it's my fault you were attacked in the first place "
She frowns " Shut up , it was my choice , and even if it happened because of you , you saved my life so we're even "
" I hate to imagine anything bad happening to you " I supress a sob
she scoffs " Yeah yeah I know that neither you nor Adam can live without me , I mean I'm the light in your world "
I chuckle and wipe my tears , Adam returns to the room with a tray of food , he places it on the bedside table and looks at Emma
" Did you just say that we can't live without you ? " he frowns
" Of course you can't " she crosses her arms
Adam rolls his eyes and their usual bickering starts , I ignore them and eat my breakfast , but as I eat the last bite of my sandwich I notice that they are still arguing
" Sometimes I find it hard to believe that you two aren't kids " I cut them off
Adam scowls at her " Whatever , Ed was asking about your whereabouts earlier , apparently he wants to see you "
she narrows her eyes at him " You're not trying to send me away , are you ? "
" No I swear , I'm not lying this time " Adam laughs
" I'll be back shortly then " she leaves us alone and I greet the silence happily
Adam clears his throat " You know..... what you did last night was very courageous "
I scratch my neck " It was nothing really , I did what I had to do "
" No one would've blamed you if you chose not to help her you know "
" I couldn't just let her di-"
" EMERGENCYYY " Emma's shrill scream causes me to literally jump out of my skin
" What happened? " Adam rolls his eyes like he has seen this multiple times before
" Angel is .. here " she cringes
" Oh god no " Adam groans while I just give them confused looks
" Care to explain who Angel is ? "
" Angel is the daughter of one of the trainers here , she's four years old , and of coarse we have to babysit her today " Emma explains with fake happiness
My eyes light up at the mention of a kid " Aww she must be really cute "
" she's the devil in disguise , I'm warning you " Adam says looking overly scared of the little kid who isn't even here yet
Before I could say anything else , Angel walks in the room with a cute smile on her face , Emma cautiously makes her way towards the kid and crouches in front of her
"Hey Angel long time no see " Emma says in a baby voice
Angel smiles wickedly and suddenly she slaps Emma face and laughs , I purse my lips trying to stop myself from laughing at Emma's red face , Adam slowly hides inside the closet as Angel starts walking towards me she frowns upon seeing my tired face
" Are you okay ? " she asks
" yeah just a little tired hun " I pat her on the head gently
" Can I sit here ? " she points to the empty space next to me , I easily lift her and place her next to me
" When did you get all innocent and polite ?" Emma gives her a weird look
Angel stuck her tongue at Emma " you're just jelouse "
Adam comes out of the closet " So what do you guys want to do ?"
" The park , the park " Angel says happily
I shrug " yeah why not , let's go "
Adam looks at me " Don't you think that's a bit damgerous , now that everyone knows about you "
" We'll be with her Adam , we've got her back right ? " Emma says
Adam sighs " Okay then the park it is " .
