Hazel’s POV:
“Shh, shh. Don’t cry. It will be ok.” I told McKenna as she cried. “It was so embarrassing. I don’t want to see him again. I can’t face him. What if he makes fun of me?” She cried. “No. You don’t mean that. Just give it time, he won’t make fun of you. Everyone has fears, even him I’m sure. Don’t worry.” I told her. “I’m just going to ignore him for a bit. You know, give myself some time to think and rebuild my confidence.” She explained. I nodded in agreement. I agreed that she should rebuild her confidence, but I didn’t think she should ignore him. “McKenna, I have to go now. I told my mom I’d be home for supper. I’ll text you. See you tomorrow.” I hoped that her and Ross would work it out. “Alright mate, bye.” I waved goodbye and left.
McKenna’s POV:
After Hazel left I sat in my bed for while, just thinking. I asked myself, is this worth getting upset over? I’m trying my best to think of every reason there is to say yes, but I don’t think there is a reason. I’m still pretty embarrassed but I guess I’ll get over it.
The Next Day
I jumped out of bed bright and early. Ugh, another day of school. Not only that, but I’m in all of Ross’s classes. Hopefully he doesn’t try to talk to me so it’ll be easier to ignore him. “McKenna, hurry up or you’ll be late.” My mom shouted from the door. In a short 2 minutes we were there. “Alright, bye mom.” I said as I was getting out of the car. “Bye. McKenna, since we live so close, you can walk to school and home.” I guess I was fine with that. I just didn’t want to run into Ross. I was walking to my locker when I noticed a tall blonde boy. Oh No! It’s Ross. I quickly hid in a doorway. I waited until he left to go to my locker. When I walked into class he was already there, so I sat on the other side of the room. He looked kind of disappointed that I wasn’t next to him. I just can’t face him yet.
-----Later that day-----
It was now lunch time. Me and Hazel went outside to eat. “How are you doing?” She asked me. “Well, I managed to ignore Ross for half the day so good so far.” I told her. “Listen McKenna, I know you’re hurt and upset but I don’t think you should ignore him. It’ll hurt him more than you’re hurting right now.” I thought about what she said for a bit. She was right, what was the point in ignoring him because of one embarrassing moment. Knowing me, there will be plenty.
Ross’s POV:
McKenna has been ignoring me all day. I guess she’s more mad at me than I thought. I still have the song I wrote for her so maybe that will help. I hope it does. I think I’m falling in love with her. It’s like every time I see her, I fall for her even harder. I saw her, I just stared at her wondering if I should go and say hi or just pretend I don’t see her. If I go to her, she might reject me but there’s the chance that she doesn’t. Oh well, I’ll never know unless I try. “Hey McKenna. I know you’re still upset about the whole beach thing but I’m truly sorry. Can you forgive me?” I plead. She just walked away from me. That puts a frown on my face. I guess she doesn’t forgive me. Good thing I have that song for her, hopefully she likes it. I quickly rushed home to finish up the rest of the song.
------1 hour later------
“Bye mom. I’ll be back later.” I shouted. She waved and I ran out the door. I just hope she likes it.
McKenna’s POV:
As I was laying on my bed, I heard a strange sound as if something was hitting my window. I got up to see what it was. It was Ross, holding a guitar and throwing rock at my window. “Ross. What are you doing here?” I ask. “I wrote a song for you.” He smiled. I nodded as a signal telling him to start.
Stuck On You
Ooh… Ooh… Yeah…
Okay maybe I'm shy
But usually I speak my mind
But by your side, I'm tongue tied
Sweaty palms, I turn red
You think I have no confidence
But I do, just not with you
No… I'm singing all the words I'm scared to say
Yeah…
So forgive me
If I'm doing this all wrong
I'm trying my best
And this song is to tell you
What can I do
I'm stuck on you
I'm hoping you feel what I do
Cuz I told mama that you told her
What can I do
I'm stuck on you
And like the night sticks to the moon…
Girl… I'm stuck on you
Ooh… Ooh… Yeah…
Look at me, perfectionist
Yeah I'm a workaholic
But on my phone, I feel at home
I don't like pools
But make my bed
Floss to keep my teeth perfect
Yeah it's true, I got issues
So… I'm singing all the words I'm scared to say
Yeah…
So forgive me
If I'm doing this all wrong
I'm trying my best
And this song is to tell you
What can I do
I'm stuck on you
I'm hoping you feel what I do
Cuz I told mama that you told her
What can I do
I'm stuck on you
And like the night sticks to the moon…
Girl… I'm stuck on you
Ooh… Ooh… Yeah…
I'm stuck on you
By the time he was done I was basically in tears. “Ross that was the sweetest thing anyone has ever done for me.” I told him. I rushed downstairs to the door. I ran outside and gave him a big hug. “Did you like the song?” He asked. “Yes. I loved it.” He began to smile. “Good because that song was for you and about you. I am so sorry about the beach thing.” He started to say. “It’s OK. Everyone has fears. Mine just happens to be water.” I mumbled. “Why water? Did something happen?” He said. “No. I just… I.. I can’t swim.” I looked down and began to play with my shirt. “Awe. You could have just told me. I could have taught you. I will teach you. Tomorrow we will go to the beach and you will go home knowing how to swim.” He seems so determined to make me happy. It was very sweet of him. We hugged again before he left and just as he was hugging me, he gave me a kiss on the cheek. I was blushing like crazy now. I had the biggest smile on my face. He waved goodbye and I went back inside. I could not sleep at all last night. I was too in love, I think. I don’t really know what love is but I know I have feelings for Ross stronger than just a little crush.
