Chapter 18. A promise isn't forever

Well, the truth is Ross... I can't forgive you just yet. We need to take this slow." He nodded slowly. "So your saying there is a chance you'll forgive me?" He asked. "I'll have to think about it. Can I get some time alone please? I kind of want to cool off a bit." He nodded. "Can I have a hug at least? It would really help me." He asked. "Sure." I stood up and hugged him. It felt so right but so wrong. He then left as Rydel walked in. "Hey, are you OK?" I nodded as she walked towards me. I went to my room and called Rocky.

"Hey McKenna."

"Hey Rocky."

"What's up? You OK?"

"Yeah, just a question."

"Fire away."

"I want you to set up a dinner with Ross and I. It sounds crazy but please?"

"Sure thing. I'll call you when it's ready. Bye."

"Bye."

I went to tell Rydel. "Hey Rydel. I have a question." She smiled. "This is crazy but I think I'm going to take Ross back. She hugged me. "Yay! I'm not saying I agree with what he did but I know he makes you happy and if your happy, so am I." She told me. "I'm actually meeting him soon, can you help me get ready?" She smiled and nodded. First I showered while she chose my outfit. She chose a pink dress and black heels. She also did my hair and makeup nicely. When she was all done, it was time to go. Rocky texted and said Ross was already there which made more nervous. I slowly walked downstairs and went to tge restaurant. I saw Ross sitting at the table by himself. I walked over to the table. "Hi." He looked up. "Oh, um hi. What are you doing here?" He asked. "The truth is, I asked Rocky to do this?" He looked surprised at me. "Why?" I sat down across from him. "I have to tell you something, but not yet. At the end of the night." He nodded. "So is this like, a date." I took a deep breath. "If.... If you want it to be." He nodded and I smiled. We ordered our food and drinks. "So, how have you been?" He asked. "Um, I've been as good as I could be. How have you been?" I stated. "Honestly, terrible." I frowned. "Why?" I asked. "I feel so bad. I hurt you and you may be able to forgive me but I don't forgive myself. He explained. "You need to forgive yourself in order to move on. I'm still processing this whole thing myself, we can do this together. Right?" I touched his hand making him tense up. "Right, together. So what did you want to tell me?" He smiled. "I thought that you should know.... I can't wait. I want to get back together." I smiled. "Are you serious?" I smiled and nodded. "Wow. This is great. I never thought you would. It makes me feel a whole lot better." I smiled and we finished off our date. "Want to walk around?" He asked. "Sure, let me change first." Ross gave me a puzzled look. "You look gorgeous though." I smiled. "Thanks but it's a bit cold out." He nodded. We went up to my room. Rydel wasn't in there so I was guessing she was in one of the boys room. I chise something comfortable to wear. I put on leggings, a hoodie and black boots. "Ready to go?" Ross stated. "Yeah, how is this outfit though? Take caution before you answer." He smiled. "I think you look adorable. I like it." He told me. "Aww, thank you." I was about to kiss him but I hesitated. "What?" He smirked. "Oh, just nothing. Lets go." I said hoping he didn't notice. He walked out and I followed. We got outside and started to walk. "It's so pretty." I stated. "Yes you are." Ross smiled. I looked at him and blushed a bit. "Oh, you meant the city. Yeah, it's alright. I mean it isn't as beautiful as you are." I blushed again. "Ross stop it. Your making me nervous." I giggled. "Sorry not sorry. I just can't help myself." He then kissed my cheek. We continued to walk around for a bit. We then came upon some fans. "Oh my godzilla! You're Ross Lynch!" I smirked. "Yes I am." He nodded. "We are huge fans of R5. Can we have an Autograph." I smiled at how excited they were to meet him. "Yeah of course." He gave them his autograph and we continued to walk. "Oh my gosh! That neckalace is so gorgeous." I sqeauled. "It is but you top it." I looked over at him. "It tops me and I really like it." I told him. "Then buy it." I shook my head. "I left my wallet in my room." I sighed. We then walked pass the store. "Can you wait here? I just need to go to the washroom." I asked. "Yeah." I quickly went to the bathroom and came out not seeing Ross anywhere. I looked around and there was no sign of him. "What's cookin' good lookin'?" I turned around to see Ross. "Where'd you go?" He smiled evilly at me. "What did you do?" He handed me a box. "What is this?" I slowly took the box. "Open it." I opened and found the Necklace I liked. "Ross... You shouldn't have!" I gasped. "McKenna... I should have." He mimicked me. "Why did you do this?" He shrugged. "I saw how much you liked it and because... well because I love you." I haven't heard that in a bit. "I love you too. Thank you." I hugged and we continued to walk. When it started to get dark we began to head back. "So, this girl in the club. Was she hot?" I asked. "No, not really. Your hot though." That put a smile on my face. "Are you sure?" He nodded. "Of course. No girl I've ever met is more beautiful than you." He then slipped his fingers through mine. I quickly took my hand away. "What's wrong? Can I not hold your hand?" He asked. "Uh, I just... I have to go now." I quickly ran back to the hotel.

Ross's POV:

I slipped my fingers through hers but she pulled away. "What's wrong? Can I not hold your hand?" I asked. "Uh, I just... I have to go now." She then ran back to the hotel. Maybe she wasn't ready to move this fast. Or maybe she was nervous or scared. I wasn't sure. I headed back to the hotel. I knocked on the door and Rydel answered. "Where's McKenna? I have to speak to her." She gave me a confused look. "She's not in here. She might be in one of your guys room." I nodded as she closed the door. I first went to my room which was empty. Then I went to Riker's room. "Dude, is McKenna in here?" He nodded. What a relief. "Oh hey Ross." She looked much calmer. "Hey, can we talk?" She nodded. "Great! Lets go to my room." We then left and went to my room. "Why did you run off?" She sat on my bed. "I panicked. I'm sorry. I just got so nervous when you touched my hand." She blushed. "It's fine. I think that's cute." I said to get as she sniled.

McKenna's POV:

I knew Ross was going to come looking for me. "Oh hey Ross." I stated. "Hey, can we talk?" I nodded. "Great! Lets go to my room." We left and went to his room. "Why did you run off?" He asked as I sat on his bed. "I panicked. I'm sorry. I just got so nervous when you touched my hand." I blushed. "Its fine. I think that's cute." He said as I smiled. It was silent for a bit before he broke the silence. "We have a show tomorrow. Are you coming?" I nodded. "Good. Then we leave the next day." I sighed of relief. I really wanted to go home. This place makes me sad with all that happened. "I should get some sleep. See you tomorrow." I got up and headed for the door. "Goodnight babe." He said as he stood up. "Goodnight Ross." He opened his arms and I ran up and gave him a big bear hug. We both slowly started to lean in. We were only inches away from each others faces before the door opened. I quickly jumped back. "Hey McKenna!" Rocky shouted as well as Ratliff. I waved and left quietly. "Hey Rydel." She waved not looking up from her phone. "You excited for tomorrow?" I asked. "Yeah." She nodded slowly. "How are things with Ross?" I was shy about answering this. "Um, good-ish. To be honest Del, I can't help but be nervous around him. He makes me feel special and scared." She gave me a weird. "Scared? What do you mean?" I sighed. "Well, what if he leaves me for another girl? I'm scared I'm not good enough for him." I sat on my bed. "No, don't say that. He is in love with you McKenna. Trust me, he won't leave you." I faked a smile and got ready for bed. "Goodnight." Rydel called and was out like a light in a matter of minutes. "Night." I whispered. I kept tossing and turning but for some odd reason, I just couldn't go to sleep. Ross then popped into my mind. What are the odds that he'd call? "Hello." I said into the phone. "Meet me in the hallway." I was glad he said that because I really wanted to see him. I tiptoed out of the room not waking Rydel. As I was closing the door, I was grabbed from behind. I bit my tongue trying not to scream. I turned around to find Ross. A sigh of relief escaped my mouth. "I can't sleep." He stated. "Neither can I." I replied. He pulled me into a tight hug. I just wanted him to hold me forever. We pulled apart still in each others arms. Back where we were before. We both leaned and then our lips touched. I didn't hesitate at all. His tongue poked my bottom lip. I opened my mouth slowly as our tongue had a mini war. We then pulled back. "Wow... that was... I finished his sentence. "Amazing! Yeah." I smiled. We both yawned at the same time. "Tired?" I nodded. "Same." He told me. He pulled me into another bear hug. "Goodnight babe." I just loved it when he called me babe. "Goodnight love." We pulled apart. I gave him one more kiss and we parted ways. I went back into my bed. I was asleep in seconds. I guess a kiss was all I needed.
