Laive
It was a little after midnight and they were all in her bed having girl talk, catching up on some of their favorite memories.
"You know Angela is getting married?" Laive couldn't believe it. It was a girl they went to high school with. L's Instagram feed showed Angela's boyfriend proposing to her in his cap and gown. He was two years younger than her.
"Nurrrp!" Saniye smacked as she ate on a bag of chips. "They was just broken up not too long ago. I knew they had got back together though."
"Lord forgive me...but I would hope she married him, with the way she licked his A-hole and what not..." Laive would never forget the day she found out Angela tossed her man's salad. She could never look at that girl the same. "You can't come back from that sis..."
"BYYYEEE LAI!" Saniye was laughing so hard she snorted.
Javeah looked up from her phone, "Yeah...I saw they were engaged...but I do remember them breaking up cause I remember her posting... but I'm happy for them." She started to cackle just as hard as Saniye, "You ain't right Lai!"
"It's official I'm not made for the fuck buddy lifestyle!!" Saniye rolled over and palmed her face. "I feel so old!"
Laive grinned and kept quiet. She couldn't participate in the conversation with them, L didn't have any experience on the topic at hand.
Javeah nonchalantly glanced over, "Welcome to the lifestyle sis!"
"I haven't done it since I was 19, but I was going to try it again! It's a no go. I just gave him a whole speech on why I can't be a fuck buddy and he told me I sound like a mom cause I told him not to walk through my door passed 1 am."
She never asked Saniye about her love life unless it was serious. Saniye was definitely more unconventional and adventurous when it came to dating...She was even on Tinder. Laive couldn't see herself doing that, but more power to her best friend for always putting herself out there and leaving no stone unturned to find what she was looking for. She loved her for that!
Javeah smirked and changed the subject, "You remember when you came up there to North Dakota with me and we-"
"No!" Laive burst out giggling. She wouldn't even let Veah finish her statement. "I don't remember nothing."
They had fun spending that month together. Laive hadn't realized that she was depressed and stressed out before she left home. She was barely eating...getting about 2-3 hours of sleep a day. That was so unlike her. She at least got a good 5-6 hours of rest...she was naturally an insomniac.
Laive tuned out Javeah and Saniye while her mind drifted back to the day she headed up there.
She panicked.
Laive had packed forty-four pounds of luggage to leave her home town. She had to get away. She didn't care what it took to start over. No car? Ok. No money? Ok. Phone bill was late? Ok. Laive didn't care anymore. She didn't have time to prepare her pride....all this. All this because she stood her ground and said no.
L was actually cutting a track for her sister Amelia's competition team on Logic Pro X on her computer. She was already frustrated because Amelia called and gave her specific instructions on how to cut the music. After rehearsal, she came to their Mother's house in an uproar about what Laive needed to change. Her sister clearly didn't understand the technicality of trimming down an eight minute song to two minutes and thirty seconds to make it sound like it was an original track, including mixing and mastering it.
Laive spent a couple hours adding extra sound effects and transitions for Amelia to come back ungrateful and complaining about how she needed to change it. Mind you, she wasn't even paying her. A track like that, with sound effects and cuts would run her about $500 and up from any other mixer or engineer. Somehow the conversation went from the track as Laive had her headphones in trying to redo it, to Laive having an attitude anytime someone needed her help.
