First of all sorry for late update. I was really stuck somewhere that's why i couldn't update. Sorry...

Day before engagement

Mehta's and khannas were extremely busy with the engagement preparation.the engagement was decided to be held at mehtas house. Avni was in her room struggling to concentrate on her studies as the next day after the engagement starts her exam.

Avni: oh god im not able to concentrate on my studies. What will i do in my exams. Oh god please help me..

After some time dadi came to her room and saw her in tension.she thought it was bcz of engagement.

Dadi:avni what are you doing at this time. Tomorrow is a very special day for u and you have to look best. If you dont sleep then it will reflect on your face. I dont want you to look sleepy on your engagement day. Go and sleep now.

Avni:dadi..i will sleep after some time. Plzzz.

Dadi:no more arguments. Go and sleep.

Avni:dadi...

Dadi:no avni its my order.

Avni:ok (with a defested face) oh god what will i do now...

Dadi:did you say some thing??

Avni:no...gud night dadi.

Dadi:gud night and sleep well. I will come and check after some time

With that she left avnis room pulling her in pool of thoughts yet again but this time it was her engagement.the  thought of engagement made avnis heart skip some beats. She was nervous really really nervous.

Avni:calm down avni... Relax.... Y r u getting nervous.neil is a nice person and you know that. But after engagement i will officially become his to be wife. Avni.. Are you sure that you are ready for this wedding??? What if you fail to fullfill your responsibilities as a wife and a daughter in law. No no avni you arr thinking too much. They will surely understand you and will help you in every step. So calm down.

Avni went to bed with a turmoil of emotions in her mind

Same time khanna mansion

Neil was in his room. A small smile playing on his lips. Not that he was soo much excited for his engagement but somewhere that thought made him smile a bit. He was relaxed and enjoying his time. Suddenly his thoughts was broken by a call from his collegue come friend dd.

Dd:hey dude... How's the preparations going. All set?

Neil:yeah bro.. Everything is set.

Dd:are you not nervous??

Neil:nervous?why would i be nervous??

Dd:great bro. U know what even though mine and sunehris was a love marriage i was hell nervous the day before my engagement.i still remember Sunehri called me and tod that she dont wanna get married out of nervousness and tension.

Neil:what??i thought you both were chilled out as yours were a love marriage.

Dd:no yaar... Hey wait sunehri is here wanna talk??

Neil:hey i dont need your permission to talk to my gf ok..

Dd:yeah she is your gf and will always be your gf..

Dd handed phone to Sunehri

Sunehri :hey bf.. How are you??

Neil:im good gf.. You are coming right??

Sunehri :y wouldn't i come after all its your engagement yaar. And by the way how's avni?? Did you speak to her?

Neil:no..she will be busy..

Sunehri:you are really impossible neil. U should have called her. She will be hell nervous

Neil:oops.i didn't know that. I thought she will be like me.

Sunehri:no neil... U dont know girls thats y you are saying this. I was hell scared those days even though our's was a love marriage.neil...i think you should call her..

Neil:ok...but what will i say to her?

Sunehri :anything....

Neil:ok then... I will call her. Dont be late tomorrow ok...

Sunehri:yeah we will be on time. Dont worry... Bye

Neil:bye...

Neil hung the phone up and sat an his bed.

Neil:i think gf is right. I should call her. But its too late now.. What if she is sleeping? No no its just 11 pm as day after tomorrow is her exam she will be studying.. If she is studying its not good to disturb her.eghhh...wht r u doing neil.. Jst call her.

Neil took his phone and dailed her number. After 2 rings some one from other side picked the call. And it was avni.

Neil:hey...hlw avni...

Avni:hii neil...

Neil:u didn't sleep yet?? Were you studying? Did i disturbed you?

Avni:no neil. Its nothing like that. I was just....

Neil can hear her fumbling for words to hide her tension.

Neil:avni...are you ok?? I mean... U r fine right??

Avni:yeah...i mean... No... Yes..

Neil:avni...jst relax.... I know you are nervous.but its ok... Jst breathe in and breathe out. You will feel better.

Avni does that and feels little better.

Neil:now ok??

Avni:thank you neil...

Neil:no need avni.. Ok now tell how ur exam preparations going?

Avni:not good. Actually i m not able ro concentrate on studies. I dont know why...

Neil:its ok avni.. Jst relax. Dont be tensed. Everything gonna fine. And i know you will give your best in yohr exam.

Avni:i dont think so neil. What if i fail in my exam. What if i fail to fullfill my responsibilities towards you and your family. What if..

Neil:oho wait my super fast express.give a break to your what ifs ok. Noe listen to me very carefully. You dont have to worry about your responsibilities here.now just concentrate on your exam. I m here with you to help you in your duties.

Avni:but neil...

Neil:no ifs and buts avni... Ok i wanna ask you something.can i??

Avni:sure..

Neil:will you be my friend??

There was a silence from the other side for some time.

Avni:(hesitently)yes....

Neil become extremely happy.

Suddenly avni heared dadi's sound and she was coming towards avnis room.

Avni:neil i need to cut the call now. I m extremely sorry. If dadi saw me awake she will screw me. Im really really sorry.

Neil:hey its absolutely fine. And yeah sleep well ok.. Will see you tomorrow..

Avni:yes.you too sleep well. Gud night..

Neil:gud night.

With that both ended the call. Avni got into her bed and acted as she is in deep sleep. Dadi came and lied beside avni. Avni opened her eyes to find dadi beside her. Now after talking to neil she felt a bit relieved and her frowns were replaced by a small curve upwards on her lips.

Both avni and neil slept with a small smile on their faces.
