As I straightened out the low-cut shirt I wore and smoothed out my tight jeans, I felt almost nauseous. School. Today is the start of my bet with Noah. Was he going to pick his girl today? Would I kiss someone today? I definitely don’t want the identifier of a slut on my shoulders this early in the game.

A car honked outside my house and I looked out to see Noah’s car perched in my driveway. I fluffed out my blond hair one last time before I started out there.

“Ty!” I yelled out. Since he’s a freshman at our school, my best friend offered to give him a ride as well. Although my brother didn’t admit it, he thought it was pretty cool getting driven to school everyday by a well-known senior. Of course he wouldn’t admit that but it was obvious when he got out and smirked at all his freshman friends when they gawked.

My brother ran down the stairs, his light brunette hair shaggy over his eyes. He stopped right in his tracks when he saw me and a huge, mischievous grin spread over his face.

“What?” I scowled at him and crossed my arms over my chest protectively.

“Nothing…” He walked past me and out the door. “You just look a little scandalous.”

I turned bright red but grabbed my bag and followed him out the door. Inside the car, Noah was leaning over his phone but looked up when we got in. A smile that was similar to Ty’s rested on his mouth.

“Damn, Mel.”

“Shut up.”

“I wasn’t going to say anything else.”

I just glared at my best friend, “Right.”

The smirk on his face just confirmed my words because he was going to say something else. He backed out of my driveway and started to school without any other words.

“So why are you dressed like that?” Ty leaned forward from the backseat.

“Am I not allowed to dress like this?”

“No, it’s just that you never usually dress like a girl,” My little brother shrugged and I slapped him across the back of the head. With a groan, he was quiet for a few moments before realization passed his face. “Oh, I know why you’re dressing like that!”

I rolled my eyes, “Enlighten me.”

“You want Blake to be jealous since he dumped you.”

“He didn’t dump me!”

“He broke up with you and that’s the same thing as being dumped.” My brother considered this. “He also did it in front of everyone. You must feel like shit. Don’t worry, Melody. I always thought he was gay. You probably just helped him sort out his feelings, that’s all.”

Noah started laughing and held out his fist for my brother to bump. I slid down in my seat, angry that they were being annoying, and crossed my arms over my chest.

“Either you dressed like that for Blake or you’re wanting someone’s di—“

“Tyson Daniel Evans!” I shot around in the front seat to glare at my brother. “Don’t you dare finish that sentence! You’re only a freshman, there’s no reason as to why you should be talking like that!”

“Fine, Melody. Calm it down.”

I slumped back in my seat and looked over to see Noah containing his laughter. I rolled my eyes but then his attempts were gone once Ty spoke again.
