Helloooooooo everyone. First of all, I'm SO sorry that it's been forever. From having surgery, to finishing college apps, to taking the SATs THREE times since I last updated, preparing for graduation already, getting another job, and ending my last soccer season, I've been really busy, and I apologize. BUT since then, I have completely planned out a new story that I'm ridiculously excited for, and with winter break coming up, I hope to finish off this story and get on to my new one that I'm all sure you'll love :)
So before we get started, here's what happened in the last chapter because it's been awhile:
Holly died from her cancer. Noah's grieving. Melody and him potentially made up. Melody's trying to help him. And all that kind of stuff (sorry, I'm awful with summarys).
But here's the new chappie! :)
(PS: if you don't remember, Brenden is Noah's other best friend and he told him about the bet)

My parents let me take another day off of school to grieve, but I wasn’t allowed over at the Freely’s. They needed their space and honestly, I needed time away too for my own anguish. But after skipping that other day of school, I had to go back. We were getting too close to finals and I was already way behind. I couldn’t even fathom how far Noah was.
When I walked into the school, everything was the same. No one looked at me differently. No one asked about Noah. I almost forgot that most people didn’t even know who Holly was, let alone that she was Noah’s sister. Therefore, people wouldn’t have known that she had passed on. I found it crazy that people were going on with their average lives while so many others were dying or breaking down or slowly falling away. It’s weird to think that while Holly was now dead, others were happy with their own lives. They could be getting married or playing their favorite sport. This truly shows that the world goes on now matter how bad things are for you.
I kept my head low as I maneuvered through the halls and to my locker. I didn’t want to talk to or manage anyone’s shit today. I wanted Noah. Hell, I needed him right now and I knew that he needed me as well. Sighing, I twisted in my combination into the lock and opened it slowly. I just stood in front of it for a few moments, not really caring to think about my classes.
“Umm… Melody?” I turned around and saw Brenden, Noah’s other best friend, standing there awkwardly. Besides Noah and I, Brenden was the only other person in this entire school who really knew Holly. The dark circles under his eyes told me that he wasn’t taking the news that well either. “How are you holding up?”
My mouth gaped like a fish for a few seconds before I pursed my lips. “I-I…” I sighed, dropping my gaze. “I’m doing terrible.”
“Hey, now,” he put his hand on my shoulder. “Do you want to skip first and talk about it? I’ve kind of been dealing with this by myself and I need someone.”
I offered a small smile and closed my locker, rejecting my previous thoughts of classes. “I’d like that.”
We didn’t leave the school, but headed out to the football field and sat in the field just above it. Although it was early, we were in the middle of spring and the weather was surprisingly nice. Not too warm or cool, just right. For a few moments we just sat there, both of our knees pulled up to our chests as we watched some of the freshmen in PE start to come and run laps.
