Marie's POV
I sit outside the building as I wait for LaShawn to come. I hate the fact that I had been looking forward to his arrival all day. I've been to the M&M Factory plenty of times before but to have him give me a tour of the place is even better. I stand as his silver car rolls into the parking lot.
"Hey, how was work today," he asks me. His voice was so deep and intriguing.
"It was good. Got plenty of costumers today," I tell him. "What have you been doing all day?"
"Nothing much, just went to chill with my boys," he answers smoothly.
We arrive at the Factory and he parks the car as close to the door as possible. We both climb out and head inside. When we walk through the front door and past the desk, he stops me. He reaches behind the counter and pulls two bags of chocolate M&M's and two bottles of cherry Pepsi from behind there.
"Thanks," I say, opening the candy.
"Okay, so this is the main floor," he tells me, gesturing to the space around us. "We employees like to call it the 'Candy Room' for obvious reasons," he tells me.
We walk around, watching little kids argue with their mothers and even with each other. We take the elevator to the second floor.
"This is the packaging area," he tells me. On the wall, there are tubes and tubes of M&M's that run all the way through the ceiling, seperated by color. We walk all around the second floor and I saw every color of the rainbow and then some. I had no idea there were this many colors.
"Do you ever eat on the job," I ask him, only half serious.
"Of course I do. You'd be stupid not to," he tells me laughing. We ride back down to the first floor and we go through a set of double doors. Behind the doors are cardboard boxes. We walk deeper into the area and come to a table. He gestures for me to take a seat and I do. He picks up his phone and dials a number.
"Hey Dev. I think we are ready," and he hangs up.
"Ready for what," I ask him. Before he can answer, someone, who I assume to be Dev, walks through the double doors, holding two trays. He sets them down in front of each of us and walks away.
"Whats this," I ask him. I look at the tray to find steaming chicken tenders and fries.
"Dinner, unless you want something else," he tells me, a little panicked.
"No! This is great, I just wasnt expecting it," I tell him and place a fry in my mouth.
"Okay, great," He says, settling back down. "So tell me about yourself."
"Well there isn't much to tell. I start collage in a couple months. I got accepted into UNCG and I want to be a Nurse Practitioner," I tell him. Im not exciting at all.
"Wow, thats great actually, congratulations," he tells me, smiling.
"Thanks, so what about you? What are your plans for the future," I ask him.
"Well right now I don't have any, but I want to go into the nursing field too. I havn't applied anywhere yet though," he says looking a little embarrassed.
"Oh, well thats okay! You seem pretty smart, you'll get in anywhere," I tell him in attempts to make him feel better.
Before we could continue our conversation, two men walked through one of the side doors heading straight towards us, and they were carrying guns.
