Marie's POV
I wake up pissed as hell. I get up, take a shower, and head downstairs to breakfast. I try not to think about what Shawn said last night.
"Goodmorning girl," Russie greets me.
"Hey." We get our food and sit at one of the tables in the corner of the dining area.
"Nicole still sleep?" She asks me.
"I guess so, didn't see her yet this morning," I reply and take a bite of my muffin. "You will never believe what Shawn said to me last night when I told him about my momma wanting to meet him," I continue.
"Oh yeah, what did he say?"
"He basically said that there wasn't any point in it anymore," I felt myself getting angrier by the second. "Like all this was for nothing."
"Seriously? Why would he say that?"
"I guess he's still not content with the fact that I'm leaving. Even then that doesn't give him the right to be an asshole."
"I'm so sorry girl, but here he comes," She warns me. I don't turn around.
"Goodmorning Rie, Russie," Shawn greets us before going to get his food.
"You want me to go? Give you time to talk?" Russie asks me, preparing to leave.
"Yeah, I better handle this now," I say, and she's gone.
As soon as Russie makes it to the elevator, Shawn makes it to the table.
"Before you say anything, please let me explain," Shawn says, hurriedly. I don't say anything.
"I didn't mean what I said. I just don't want you to leave," He continues. I wait a couple seconds to see if he's done with his so called "explanation".
"Can I ask you something?' I ask rhetorically. "Does any of this mean a damn thing to you?" I ask, this time waiting for an answer.
"What do you mean? Of course it does. I love you Marie," He says, looking worried and confused.
"You know, I've never really loved anybody until you," I tell him. He looks up from his plate to look me in the eye.
"Now I know that what you have said so far is true. You love me, you don't want me to go, blah blah blah." I say. "But this is what I want to do and I have to do it.
"Marie...baby I know. I keep saying stupid things and I'm sorry." He says. "I love you too much to just watch you leave me." He says. I was just about to tell him that I wouldn't be leaving as soon as I thought when i started crying.
"I just don't know what to do. The school called me this morning saying that I've been put on the waiting list and I probably won't even get back in until next semester. On top of that, my brother just got arrested yesterday," I say, trying to contain myself. My mother called me yesterday to tell me about my brother Mikey but up until now, I didn't really know what to think of the situation.
"Rie, don't cry sweetheart. I promise that everything will be okay." Shawn whispers, trying to calm me down. "Don't think about it right now okay? Just relax and have fun with your friends," He continues, rubbing my back. Eventually I wipe my tears and clean up my mess so that I can head back to the room to get ready.
"So what are we doing today?" Shawn asked me when reached our room.
"I don't know," I simply put. I was still upset. He sighs and makes his was over to the bed that I was sitting on. He lifts my chin so that I'm looking into his eyes.
