Marie's POV
"Shawn, baby, are you coming with me or not?" I whisper in his ear, causing him to come out of his sleep.
"Yeah, yeah. Im comin'," he says. I get up to get dressed. By the time Shawn is in and out of the shower and dressed, its 6:45. The ride to the restaurant was filled with tired silence, neither one of us having the energy to carry any kind of conversation. When Shawn pulled into the parking lot, I saw my brother get out of the drivers seat of a black Range Rover.
"Hey Marie, Shawn," He says as he caught up with us. As we walked in, the waiter escorted us to a booth in the corner right by the door.
"So when do you leave?" Ant asks me, while we scan our menus.
"No idea. They put me on the waiting list," I told him.
"Ohh, well you ever gunna come back to New York?"
"Haven't thought that far ahead yet. I guess it depends," I say as the waiter comes by to take our order.
"What about you Shawn? You going to school too?" Anthony asks him. Seeing the smirk on his face, I could tell he already knew the answer.
"Don't start with me," Shawn says, not looking up from his menu.
"Just wondering. Damn nigga," Ant says under his breath. "So what's gunna happen with you two after ya leave?" He presses.
"Look, lets talk about something else okay?" I say, before Shawn rips his head off.
"Fine. Well how is dad?" He asks. We had the same father but not the same mother. To him, it's like my mom doesn't exist, but I can't blame him.
"I don't know actually. After I moved out, they didn't want anything to with me," I say and sip from my lemonade.
"You too huh?" He says, laughing.
"Yeah...so you heard about Mikey?"
"Yeah, I was there when it happened," He says, like its nothing. I haven't seen or heard from Mikey in so long it's crazy.
"You were there? What happened?" I ask, my questions spilling out my mouth.
"Got caught with the heat, carrying sugar, all of the above." He says.
"And you didn't do anything?" I asked getting frustrated. I feel LaShawn place his hand on my thigh, letting me know he's got me.
"What could I do?" Anthony said, raising his hands in defense. I just sigh.
"Marie...sis, I am very sorry for what I am about to do." He whispers to me.
"What? What are you about to do?" I ask, looking around frantically. He doesn't answer, but instead reaches behind his back to pull a gun from his waitband.
"Don't move," Anthony says to Shawn. Shawn doesn't look the least bit fazed by what's going on. Ant doesn't move until two guys walk into the diner, both of them walking towrds us.
"Stand up slowly," He commands Shawn and he does as he's told. The two men that walked in, pinned his wrist behind his back, dragging him outside. Anthony waits until they are outside and in the car before he puts away his weapon. I look around to see everybody in the restaurant staring at us. I ignored them and started on my way outside before Anthony stopped me.
"Marie, just let him go. He's more trouble than he's worth," He says to me, trying to calm me down.
"What in the hell was that? Where are you taking him?!" I yelled.
"We have unfinished buisness. Thats all this is Rie, buisness," He says and makes his way outside to his car. I rush after him but by the time I start the car, they were out of sight. I sighed and rested by head on the steering wheel. I didn't have enough energy to cry.
