Katyusha sadly looked down as she heard that her father wont be returning home for a while, Maria placed her hand towards her daughter's head as she said "Don't worry my precious daughter, your father will return soon." Katyusha nodded and smiled as she replied "okay mother" but on her mother's thoughts, she was worried on her husband's condition since he participated on defending his nation from the invaders for which it was their duty to protect the citizens at all cost.
Little did they knew that their lives are in danger for the head of The Claudius family ordered half of his men to siege Fredrickson's territory while the other half would participate on the war in order to cause distraction for their hidden plot against Christopher and his Family.
The dawn has come to call for the night, to the head of the Claudius household, it means as a signal to initiate their plan, the guards stared at the horizon while they saw a familiar banner which seemed it was coming from their allies, which
They decided to open the gate in order for them to enter.
The guards went close to them for they would greet the allies with a warm welcome, but instead of a greeting they were attacked with a sudden slash of a sword which made the other guards panicked as they ran towards the Signal tower to ring the bell in order for the citizens to be warned for the upcoming attack, they were bombarded with arrows but luckily some escaped with minor scratches but there were also some unlucky guards who were fatally hit by the arrows.
They have reached the signal tower's doors and the guard opened it, as it opened they rushed inside while some stayed behind to buy them some time for the one who will signal the village. Everything went on the village guard's plan five were holding unto the door and one ran to the tower, the enemy soldiers tried to break the door, making the five guards prepared while the other one was already running towards the tower's spiral stairs but the door broke down faster than it was expected and instead of soldiers it was a barrage of arrows, three of the guards rushed too early and was fatally wounded leaving the two waited on the sides, the runner was already halfway to the bell making the two guards below him started to intercept on the attackers but they were instead impaled with spears but because of their brave sacrifice, the runner reached the bell and he hit it as hard as he could making a large noise that can be heard all over the village which signals that it was under siege making the other guards ready their weapon and rushed to their stations.
The Guard in the signal tower knew that there were no escape so he leaned on the edge and held the handle of his sword as he slowly unsheathes it from his scabbard as he started to hold his position upon hearing the footsteps getting closer.
The civilians heard from the signal bell as they started to evacuate but the soldier in the signal tower fought for his life, thinking that he bought time for the villagers to escape but little did he knew that there were over a tens of thousands of troops storming their village, they brutally slaughtered everyone in the village no one was an exempted neither women and children even the elderly, they were also plundered starting from their livestock to their personal properties.
A messenger ran towards the Fredrickson estate in order to evacuate it's residence, since its far from the village, they didn't hear the sound of the bell. The messenger managed to reach it with his horse, he crawled towards the door as he started to knock the door while clenching on his wound on his stomach, putting a pressure on his wound to make the bleeding slower but he also suffered from the pain, the door opened as the Mansion's butler checked on who was outside, he was surprised on what he saw, a severely bleeding soldier collapsed and uttered his last words "t-the village is under attack." He said as he coughed more blood while he took his last breath.
The butler closed the soldier's eyes as he laid the body on a couch and covered it with a blanket, he then reported to Maria about what the messenger said and its unfortunate fate, his sacrifice wasn't in vain Maria decided that they should flee from the attackers which are on their way to their estate, there were no other choice, so all of the residents within the estate started to pack their things while barricading the front door then they ran to the back door of the mansion but the attackers are almost at their estate and as they reached the backdoor, they heard a loud thud as if a door was forced to open and this made them think that they should move with haste while avoiding contact to the attackers.
The invaders went inside the mansion, room by room they inspected but they noticed that the residents seemed to have evacuated so they thought that their targets seemed to have evacuated on the nearest forest which they did and so they decided to give a chase on the fleeing residents. Katyusha was following her mother without knowing on what was happening but Katyusha couldn't keep up to her mother's momentum which made her trip, Maria noticed it so she stopped and went back to help her daughter.
Maria picked Katyusha up as she instructed her daughter to hide inside the bush and her daughter did as she was told to, Maria went close to her daughter as she pecked her head, she instructed her into not going out no matter what but the attackers are nearby, Maria then ran on the opposite direction she knew the attackers are already nearby but she was captured by one of the enemy soldiers.
