Save Me...

~Nine~

Michael's POV:
When we got to Mal, her eyes were closed. She had long scraps on her arms and legs. Her lip was busted, and she had a scratch on her left eyebrow. I started panicking, I could barely talk.

Michael: S-someone call an ambulance. *voice cracks*

I stumbled out a sentence.

Calum: I'm on the phone with 911.

Michael: Come on Mal, stay with me. Please.

Shawn: Let me check for a pulse.

I trust Shawn, their mum is a nurse. Shawn searched her neck and wrists.

Shawn: I found one, but it's small.

*Siren Noise*

Ashton: Here's the ambulance. Stay with us Mal.

Paramedic 1: What happened?

I physically couldn't answer, so Ashton took over.

Ashton: We were getting ready to leave school, to go to his house. We all checked both sides of the road. She stepped off the curb, and a drunk driver I think, hit her then drove off.

Paramedic 2: Are any of you immediate family?

All of us looked at one another. Ashton slowly nodded at me. So I did the only thing that came to mind.

Micheal: I am.

Paramedic 1: Come with us. We got to get to the hospital fast!

Ashton: We'll go home and tell your mum, and we will meet you there.

Michael: Okay.

--- At the hospital ---
She got checked in. The nurses checked her and said she'll be okay. She has a cast on her left arm, and a boot on her right foot. We haven't seen her doctors yet.

I haven't left her side since they brought her back from her tests. I've just been holding her hand, while I wait for her to wake up. Luckily, my family knows the doctors.

I start hummed one of the bands songs, "Beside You". When mum, dad, Aunt Lana, my grandparents, and the gang came in.

Jen: Oh my god.

Colin: Did they catch the driver?

I heard the anger in his voice. I completely forgot about the driver until now. I instantly got angry too. My parents can't investigate this case because they have a tie to the victim.

Michael: Not yet. They're looking at the schools outdoor cameras.

*Knock Knock*
Gavin: Hey Guys. These are my associates Dr. Camilla and Dr. Carter.

Colin: Thank you for taking this case Gavin.

Jen: We trust you and your team.

Lana: With all do respect, why does she need three doctors?

Gavin: I will be her main physician.

Camilla: I am her gynecologist.

Carter: I'm an orthopedic surgeon.

We all nodded. They cleaned their hands and put on their gloves.

Carter: Has she woken up?

They were checking her pulse and vitals.

Michael: Not yet.

They nodded.

Camilla: That's perfectly normal. She's not in a coma, which is great.

Carter: Her body is just trying to protect itself.

Michael: Protect her from what?

Gavin: Infections.

I just nodded.

Colin: When will she wake up?

Gavin: In the next hour or so.

Jen: How were her tests?

Camilla: That's why we came in.

Gavin: One of her test results, doesn't make sense to us. We have a few questions.

Colin: What's that?

Carter: How did you meet her?

Jen: Colin and I ran into her in the streets. She ran from New Hampshire.

Colin: What did you find?

Gavin: I ran a blood test. When we have a sample run through our system it gives us a background check on the patient medical records.

Carter: Did you know she was adopted?

Jen: She never said that she was.

Gavin: While we were reviewing her injuries, we saw bruises. There were a lot, and they were fresh. Tell them what you found Dr. Carter

Carter: I ran several x-rays. Four of her ribs have been broken in the past. She also suffered from a sprained wrist and ankle.

Lana: None of them were from the accident?

Carter: No, they were a few months old.

Everyone had tears threatening to spill.

Jen: Did you run any test Dr. Camilla

Camilla: Yes. There is evidence of sexual abuse.

Throughout the doctors telling us what has happened to Mal. Ashton, Calum, Aspen, and myself never seemed shocked. I guess my Dad noticed.

Colin: You knew about her abuse?

Michael: Dad, we didn't know she was sexually assaulted.

Colin: Why didn't you tell us?

Michael: She begged us not to. I'm sorry.

Jen: There's is no need to apologize. You were being good friends.

Lana: What else came up on her record? Do you know who her adoptive parents are?

Colin: Maybe even her birth parents?

Gavin: Her adoptive parents live in New Hampshire. Their names are Peyton and Tyler Flynn.

Amber: Who are her birth parents?

Gavin: Here's what confused us.

Ryan: What is it Doctor?

Gavin: We ran every blood sample in our system, see if we could find a match.

Jen: What did you find?

Gavin: Jen, Colin.... It's a girl.
