You laid up staring at the ceiling.
You glimpsed at the clock to see the red numbers read 4:36 am.
You groaned.
You were used to sleeping without Erik. He's been gone for so long. It didn't really effect you.
But now he was in the other room and it was pure torture.
The noise of the television drowned out any sound.
Was Erik asleep?
Did he even care about not sleeping together?
Was he thinking about me?
You wanted to touch him. Kiss him. Hug him. You missed him so much but he acted out of line earlier and it was frightening. But you still loved him more than humanly possible.
You climbed out of the bed and tiptoed out of the bedroom and into the living room where Erik layed on the couch. You leaned over the edge and looked at him. His eyes were closed and he looked so peaceful yet the small crease between his brows made him look stressed.
You walked around to where he was laying and kneeled on the floor in front of him. And looked at him more closely. He looked a bit dirty and battered. You noticed he had some light bruises on him.
"So you couldn't sleep either huh?" he asked peeking through one of his eyes. You jumped at the sound of his voice.
"Im sorry Erik." you said climbing onto the couch with him and sliding under the blanket. "I shouldn't have kicked you out."
"No." he said firmly. "I was being ridiculous. I didnt have the best of days so when I heard him flirting with you and I snapped. It was uncalled for and I'm sorry.
"What happened to you?" you questioned in a whisper.
He began to tell you everything that happened over the past few days.
He said he tried to ensure the mutants safety when he was shot by Mystique then he escaped.
"I thought... " you trailed off your voice cracked and a tear rolled down your cheek.
"Shh. I know. I know." he cooed "But I made a promise to a beautiful young lady and I had every intention of keeping it." he said wiping your eyes. "Lets go to bed hm?" he said scooping you up and carrying you over his shoulder with you gigging the whole way there.
