Beloved

You... You Can't Be!!!

"Are you following me?" I asked smugly and he looked slightly embarrassed. "N-no, not at all!" He stuttered and I giggled a little while waiting for him to finish. "I just... Needed some, nail polish! Yeah, I needed nail polish!" He scrambled through the polishes before holding up black. I smiled and turned back around to follow Talyn to the front of the store. We were in a beauty supply store and Talyn was buying a bunch of unnecessary stuff and Jake was behind us. I've seen him at the last three places that we've visited and I honestly don't feel stalked just yet, I think we've been dating long enough for this to be seen as cute.

We bought the stuff and waited for him outside and he actually bought the nail polish. "Do you think its too late to ask to hang out with you guys?" He gave me a sort of anxious puppy dog look and I looked to Talyn. "I mean, he's literally been following all day. Might as well have him with us if we're going to see him anyway." I thanked her and he fist pumped the sure with a low  excited "Yes!". We laughed and headed to a diner for lunch. I ordered a deluxe burger and Talyn ordered some chicken lover's special or something. Jake ordered a Caesar salad and a black and white milkshake, which is a weird combo to me but its his body so he can do what he wants.

"Talyn, my main girl! What on earth is Ymir eating?" He asked and she laughed. "That's his favorite burger, it has lots of things on it. Extra bacon, extra pickles, lettuce, no tomatoes, ketchup, mustard and a few onions with just a dab of mayo." She explained the ingredients of my burger and he nearly choked. "Wow, that cannot be healthy for you. Wait, its your favorite? Do do you eat it all the time?" He asked and I nodded through a mouth full. He looked so confused. "For real? Then how do you stay so skinny?!" I bumped him with my shoulder and he told me that he was just playing. The waiter came and asked if we were okay and we told her yes. She and Jake knew each other and she asked to speak to him. "Uh, yeah. Excuse me for a minute and I promise, I'm not into her if that's what you're thinking." He joked and I threw a napkin at him. I smiled as they walked away and waited till they were outside to turn back to Talyn. "What if they actually are into each other and he's just-" She held up her hand until she finished chewing.

"Don't even start. You two have been dating for six months and you haven't had sex. I don't think he'd waste your time like this." She held steady eyes the entire time she spoke and it comforted me, like it secured me in my positive thoughts. I smiled and she smiled back. "Yeah, maybe you're right. Hey, I think I wanna go to the lake." I said and she agreed with me. The lake was directly next to a giant empty field of grass. We like to go there to see the stars more clearly and to watch how the moon reflects off of the water, its really calming. When Jake came back, he was ecstatic and he only got more excited when I told him about where we were going. "I love to watch the stars and planets, guess I'm just as big a nerd as Ymir!" He said and him and Talyn laughed as I objected. Jake paid--he insisted--and we left. We got in Talyn's car and drove for an hour to reach the spot. When we got there, it was near five and we played games and danced until nightfall.

Then we laid out on the blanket and watched the stars. The dead silence of night had me drifting off to sleep but I became wide awake when I heard the bushes rattle. I sat up and stared at the bush. It didn't move again but I still grabbed the mace on my keychain. I woke up Talyn and realized that Jake was gone. "Oh my God Talyn, do you think he'd okay?! I hope nothing has happened to him!" I was panicking. I didn't hear him leave or even feel him get up from right next to me. Ever since I started dating Jake the red eyed dog hasn't really showed up but what if it has tonight?! What if it dragged Jake's body off into the woods?! More bushes shook and Talyn and I stood back to back. "Its probably wild dogs, we'll probably be okay after this." She said nervously and I nodded. Men in black trenchcoats walked out of the bushes and their eyes were glowing red and they were snarling like animals.

"You're the beloved?! He has no taste! Kill him!!!" The last man that came out of the bushes instructed to the men and they walked closer to us. Talyn and I turned to run and found two of the five of them there. "How could they-" Talyn's sentence was interrupted as she was grabbed and pulled away from me. I reached for her and one of them grabbed me. I immediately froze, my body went rigid but I didn't stay that way for long because I had to help Talyn. The man picked me up with one hand and I twisted his arm and slammed him to the ground. While they were distracted, I freed Talyn and we ran to her car. I heard them running behind us and felt a hand grab me. He was too strong and I screamed. Talyn turned around and I yelled at her before the man smashed my face into the ground. "Run Talyn!!! Get out of here and don't look back!!!" I said and she ignored me and ran back towards the men. One of the others tried to punch her in the face and I heard it connect but then it was all silent. I managed to pick my head up enough to see what had happened and I couldn't believe what was happening.

Jake had Talyn in one arm and stopped the man's punch with the other but that wasn't all... His eyes were as red as theirs! He just  stood there with the most angry expression I've ever seen. "You bastards... I turn my back for one second and you try to ruin me?!" Some red energy type stuff seeped from his body and  ascended upward. He crushed the man's hand into a bloody mess and tore his arm off. Talyn and I were shocked, so shocked that all we could do was stare. Another figure landed from the sky and it turned out to be the girl from the diner. "Easy there Jake, or you'll kill the human." She said as she smiled and licked her lips at the men in black. Her eyes changed from brown to red and she pounded her fists together. "I'll leave you that one, I'm sure you'd like to have a few words with him." She rushed past me with speed that left marks in the grass and I heard what sounded like fighting behind us. At first, Jake was looking down but when he looked up his eyes had changed from red to silver and all I could feel was fear... It was so overwhelming that I cried silent tears because I was too scared to move or make a sound. The one armed man passed out and the one that held me down backed off a little. Jake sat Talyn down softly and then took a step before vanishing. Within a second later, the man's corpse crashed down on two different sides of me and some blood rained down on my head. Jake then picked me up and looked me in the eyes, they had returned to blue ones and I couldn't believe what was happening. "You... You-"

"Shh, you shouldn't speak... I'm sorry you had to go through this, now sleep." I couldn't keep my eyes open, they were so heavy. I didn't last ten seconds and gave into unconsciousness while still thinking about tonight's events.
