You're A Vampire...

I woke with a start, those red eyes haunted me in my dreams again. As I looked around, panic only set in more because I didn't recognize where I was. I was alone in a large bed with a gray comforter. The curtains were drawn but some of the sun light still got through, making the room dim but still bright enough to see my way around.

"Where am I? Last thing I remember is-" I gasped at the sudden realization that Jake is a monster. I had a mini panic attack and it only got worse when I heard someone coming down the hall. I quickly ran and hid in the closet. The door opened and I closed my eyes tightly and covered my mouth. The foot steps immediately turned and headed towards the closet. They sat something metal down and flopped down themselves. "...You don't have to be afraid, you're in the safest place for you right now. I understand how you feel, believe it or not I was in your position once. Dated a guy, ended up in a bad situation, he had to protect me, all that jazz. But believe me, Jake is still the same person that he was when you didn't know about him being a vampire-" I interrupted her. "He's a vampire?!" I screamed and she giggled. I recognized her voice, she was the girl from the diner and the field. "Yes and so am I, which is how I knew you were awake and in the closet. Your heart is going crazy in there, try to calm down a little. Now, do you want some food?" I gripped my chest and then my stomach. I opened the door and she turned to me and slid the tray in. I was met with a smile and kindness and I was really grateful, this could've gone so wrong.

"You're not going to ask me to come out of the closet?" I asked as she watched me grab the tray. "Not at all. I want you to be completely comfortable and it is kinda cozy... Mind if I join you?" I shook my head and she came in and sat next to me. "I'm Lilly by the way, I own that diner you guys were in yesterday." She gave a little wave and I smiled. "I'm Ymir and oh my gosh your burgers are life!!!" I said as I took the top off the platter and found one of her burgers. "What? How did you..." I trailed and she giggled. "Talyn mentioned that they're your favorite food so... Jake asked me to whip one up and bring it to you. You've seen some bad stuff and he wants to make sure that you're okay again." I just now thought about Talyn, I had totally forgot that she was there last night too! I'm such a terrible friend!!!

"Where is Talyn exactly?" I asked after chewing and Lilly nodded to the door. "I'm right here, I've been waiting for you to ask that for like ten minutes!" She came over and joined us in the closet. "I know, I was just thinking that I was I terrible friend. I'm sorry!" She hugged me and we said that we'd discuss that another time. They soon explained that we were in Jake's penthouse suite of a hotel that he owned. I was taken aback but at this point that was the least surprising thing about him. While we were talking, I was thinking about how I actually didn't want to see Jake anymore, I mean he was a freaking vampire for Christ's sake!!! Hopefully I'd just go back to living my life in peace and not being attacked by crazy fictional creatures.

We went out to enjoy some games and food in the living room until Jake came back. Lilly said that he was "convening with the higher ups" at the moment and that he'd probably be back late and that we couldn't leave until then. I asked why and she responded with, "Well, he's my higher up and what he says goes." I then got kinda scared. I knew so much about him, his birthday, how he likes his sandwiches, his favorite food and colors, what schools he went to and how many people he's dated. I also knew the names of his parents and that he had no siblings and I knew that he didn't have the heart to do anything remotely harsh, or at least I thought I did. Lilly explained that Jake was the leader of their clan, which was just a faction of a much larger coven. I thought about it for awhile, that made me a leader too kinda.

Jake came back at around nine o'clock. He seemed very exhausted and I didn't blame him. I was in his bed when he returned. I guess he thought that I was asleep because he just showered and climbed into bed without speaking. I turned to face him and he looked surprised. "Oh, you're awake? How are you doing?" He asked as he reached for my hand. I drew it back some and looked away from him. "Not very good, I want to go home and... I don't think we should see each other anymore." I said softly and a vein in his head twitched.

"You can't go home," He said before turning away from me. "And you can't date anyone other than me." He said sternly and I sat up. "What? Jake, you're a vampire! I can't date a vampire, you kill people!" I said and he put an arm over his head. "Jake. Jake, take me home." I said and he balled up. I grabbed his arm. "I don't want to be with you anymore! Take me home now!" I yelled and he pinned me to the wall. "Ymir... I said that you can't leave and you can't date anyone else. You're mine!!!" His eyes were red and he spoke through clenched teeth. He was choking me and I flashed back to that night. I wasn't getting any air and I tried to pull his arm away but he didn't move. Next, I twisted us and slammed him into the floor. "You're not going to keep me here Jake! I want to go home and that's what I'm going to do!" I yelled at him before I hopped up and ran for the door. He used his speed to push me and I crashed through the window. I heard him scream my name as I fell and I thought to myself... I'm about to die, my life is over and I haven't done anything memorable.

Jake jumped out of the window and rushed to catch me. When he finally caught me, he flipped and flew us upward and back into the room. There, he landed and held me closely while he cried and spoke to me. "Ymir I'm so sorry! I didn't mean- I didn't try to push you out the window I just wanted to keep you from leaving! I forgot you weren't a vampire, I-" From there he just cried and sat against the wall and I let him hold me. I couldn't cry or move, I just sat there in his arms silently while he tired himself out. Lilly kicked in the door with glaring red eyes and Talyn had a knife. They tried talking to us but they sat down with us once they realized that we wouldn't speak to them. After a while, he moved us to the living room and sat on the opposite side of the couch from me. "I'm... I'm really sorry, its just I'm irritated and angry that they would target you and put you in danger and then... I just did the same thing myself. But you really can't leave Ymir, or they'll kill you." I sat there absorbing his words and thinking that maybe, I would stay, but only so that I could keep living.
