Austin's POV

I loved playing baseball. I loved my parents. I loved my family and I loved my car. The only thing that I didn't love was coming home to my wife who was ready to yell at me for whatever she could.  It could be about the the car being parked in the wrong spot, a spot on the floor, the dishes not being done. It could be about anything really and I would sit back and just listen, even if I had a long day at practice.  I just hated being home and being around her.

I sat in my car for a good ten minutes before I even thought about going inside my house. I didn't want to see her, but I married her so I had no choice.  I couldn't just leave her.  It would bring too much attention from the press if they stopped seeing us together so often.   And god, if we got divorced, it would be the biggest scandal.

I went inside the house and was surprised to hear nothing. Her car was here, so she must be home.

"Stephanie!?" I shouted.

"What?" She shouted.

"Where are you?"

"Upstairs!"

I groaned and took my shoes off before going up. I looked in her office, but she wasn't there. I tried a few other rooms before going to our bedroom and there she was laying on our bed naked.

"Uh hey?" I said confused.

"Hey," she said with a smile.

I really didn't know what to do with her right now. In all honesty, I didn't like sleeping with my wife. I didn't even know if I really was even attracted to her. I'd figure it out eventually, but I knew as of right now I did not want to have sex with her.

"I'm really not in the mood Steph," I said honestly.

"Austin," she pouted.

"It's been a long day and practice was very, very tiring."

"Come here and let me help you relax."

"I think I'm just going to take a long shower, then get to bed."

She sighed. "Alright."

"Sorry," I said.

"It's okay," she muttered and grabbed a robe.

I went over to her and gave her a kiss, "I love you."

"I love you too," Stephanie said with a small smile.

It wasn't often anymore that we said the phrase, but it helped at times like this. I talked with her for a few minutes before I went to our bathroom and got in the shower. I felt bad about turning her down like that but I really was in no mood to even touch her at the moment.

I sighed and got out of the shower. I wrapped a towel around my waist and walked back to our room where Steph was talking to someone on my phone.

"What are you doing?" I asked going to her to and holding my hand out for it.

"Maggie was calling, but i didn't get it fast enough so I'm listening to the voicemail. She sounds like she's been crying."

I took my phone from her and quickly put some sweats on before calling Maggie back.

"Hey Maggie," I said when she answered "it's a little late to be calling, is everything alright?"

"I know, I'm sorry. I think it might be a good idea for you to come home. Your father had a stroke. We're at the hospital right now but it's not looking too good."

My face fell, "Oh god. I'll be there as soon as I can."

"Okay," she said quietly. "I called your brother. He's flying in from Germany right now."
