Austin's POV

Things with Alan and I have been a little rocky lately. He was caught up in the college life so I barely saw him. He was always at school, at work or out with his friends. It sucked because he didn't make any time for me. I knew things like this were going to happen, I knew it.  I loved him, don't get me wrong but I also didn't know if it was working. He never gave me the light of day and it was always quick and short bursts of attention before he was gone again.

"Ash," I said catching him before he could get to the front door.

"Yeah?" Alan asked stopping and looking at me.

"Can we talk?"

"What about?"

"About us."

"I'm on my way out to meet some friends. Can we talk later?"

"No, because I don't even know if you're going to come home tonight."

"I'm going to be home," he said, rolling his eyes.

"You've said that before."

"I know," he said.

"And then you don't come home."

"Maybe if you didn't act like a dick, I'd come home more."

"How have I been a dick? You've barely even been home to talk to me. You're always working, at school, studying or at your friends place! I barely see you anymore."

"Maybe because you nag at me when I am home!"

"I just want to spend time with you, is that a problem?"

"It is when you're being clingy!"

"Clingy? I fucking barely talk to you! I leave you be and let you do what you want Alan! I don't ask for anything from you!"

He rolled his eyes. "Whatever?"

"Do you love me?"

"That's a stupid question, Austin, of course I do."

"Really? Because you never say it."

"I say it all the time, Aust! What's going on with you?"

"No you don't," I said quietly.

"You're not answering my question," he sighed.

"Are you happy?"

"Austin, just answer my damn question!"

"I miss spending time with my fucking boyfriend! You never talk to me and when you do it's brief. We don't do anything together because you're always gone and I know I'm gone at practice a lot, but I at least come home every night."

"Oh."

"Yeah 'oh'," I said, "Don't keep your friends waiting. I know you don't want to talk about this. You never do."

"I'm sorry," he said, shaking his head.

"It's whatever," I said getting up from the couch, "I clearly don't make you happy anymore."

Alan came over to me, "You make me happy. I'm sorry I haven't been home. I didn't mean to do that to you, it wasn't fair. I'm gonna cancel tonight and be with you."

"I don't want to force you to be home."

"Austin," He said taking my hands.

"What?"

"I'm sorry. I love you and I never wanted to hurt you."

"Then prove it."

"How?"
