Austin's POV
It weird getting a call at three in the morning. It wasn't something that I was used to getting ever. I grabbed my phone from my night stand and answered it.
"Hello?" I asked annoyed.
"Hey, I didn't wake you did I?" Alan asked.
"You might've. I'm not as young as I used to be so I don't stay up this late anymore."
"That's dumb, you're old," he said with a laugh.
"I'm not that old," I said tiredly "Now what's up? Are you okay?"
"Yes, I'm fine. I wanted to know if you could come pick me up? My ride bailed and I'm stuck at the bar."
"Yeah, I'll be there in a bit."
"You're the best," He said.
I hung up and pulled a shirt on before I left the house. I got in my car and lit a cigarette then headed towards the bar. Maybe I was being dumb but I was way too excited to see him. I pulled up and saw him walk out, locking the door of the bar behind before he came over to my car.
"Hey," He said getting in.
I smiled, "Hey, how was your night?"
"Busy, busy for here Friday night. Usually it's dead."
"Fun?"
"Decent, time flew by which is always nice."
I nodded and started the drive back which sucked because it started to rain very hard.
"I love the rain," Alan said with a sigh.
"You ever been kissed in the rain?" I joked.
"No," he snorted. "That's gay."
I laughed, "So are you."
"I am aware."
"Glad you are."
"How've you been doing? With everything going on?" He asked.
"I'm managing," I said truthfully "I haven't really cried quite yet about my dad, but I will eventually. I knew this was going to happen, but it's still weird."
"I get that."
"I don't really want to talk about this stuff. It brings the mood down and I just want to be happy."
"That's fine, we don't have to."
"Sorry, I just don't wanna deal with all that right now. I will eventually through funeral planning and everything."
He gave me a sad look and took my hand, "Everything will be okay in the end. I promise."
I squeezed his hand. "I know it will. It's just going to take some time."
"And as your friend I'll be there for you to talk to whenever and wherever."
"I'm glad," I said pulling into my driveway.
"You could have dropped my at my house."
"Can't handle the run to your front door?"
He laughed and we both got out of the car into the pouring rain. We immediately we soaked since it was raining to hard. Thunder boomed through the sky causing us to have to shout to hear each other.
"I'll see you," I shouted over the loud rain.
Alan nodded before we both went our own ways. I did watch as he walked to make sure he got inside okay, but he didn't even make it halfway to his front door. He turned around and ran back over to me, but before I could get a word out he kissed me.
