Cassidy's POV

"Get up Cassidy!" Newt pounded on my door.

"Mmmm, later" I groaned as I rolled over.

"Get out of bed or I'll come in and carry you to the cafeteria" Newt shouted while jiggling the doorknob.

All I did was pull the covers over my face and sink further into the bed.

Suddenly, Newt burst into the room and ran over to my bed. He attempted to pry me off the bed, but it was useless.

"Love, you're too heavy," he grunted, "I'm gonna have to get someone else to wake you up."

With that, he exited the room and I fell right back to sleep. Suddenly, someone with bulging arms that were vaguely familiar lifted me out of bed. I groaned and nuzzled my face into his chest. He smelled better than expensive cologne.

"Wak-up Mrs.Sassy," The person who had lifted me out of bed spoke in a deep, husky voice. Immediately it hit me. Only one person called me Mrs. Sassy-Minho.

As all thoughts of sleep evaporated from my mind, I desperately tried to come up with an escape plan. I was in my pyjamas and my hair was probably a mess. Minho should not see me like this. Correction. No one should see me like this. So, I rolled out of Minho's arms and bolted towards the direction of my room.

"Hey, Cassidy! Where are you going? Come back right now!" Minho shouted in anger as he proceeded to chase after me.

I rounded the corner back to my room and locked the door. It normally didn't work but I didn't have time to worry about that now. I dashed to the mirror and pulled out the stuff I needed to start my day.

---

While walking back to my room after taking a shower, my thoughts began to consume me. I expected Minho to knock on my door after I ran away from him, after all, I did see him running after me, but he never showed up at my door. But I had more pressing issues on my mind. Did he see me with my ugly bed-head, not straightened or curled hair? What if he saw my makeup bare face? And my ugly oversized t-shirt I wore to sleep? My thoughts continued to circle my mind as I went back to my room and began to apply the makeup the creators were kind enough to send to me. I bet you the person who sent me the makeup was a girl. Lifesaver. As I made my third attempt to wing my eyeliner, a familiar voice ran through my thoughts.

You wear makeup?, Thomas remarked. Oh no oh no. Damn it. While wrapped up in my thoughts, I must have accidentally sent them to Thomas. Our telepathic connection must have allowed him to hear everything I thought.

Okay Cassidy-play it cool, don't screw anything up this time.

I know shocking. I don't even need it. I replied back to Thomas

Shut up. Who's that guy you were talking about? It's probably me, of course. I could picture Thomas wiggling his eyebrows at me.

Haha, in your dreams.

I'm never letting you live this down.

I know.

Deep breaths Cassidy. Deep breaths. Thomas is one of your best friends, he's not going to tell anyone. After all, he is pretty cute so he may think I was talking about him. As if that makes it any better. What if he saw me too? Cassidy, stop.

As soon as I got the courage to get up again and continue my morning routine after dying of embarrassment, I decided what outfit I should wear and began to curl my hair. If anyone is going to see me at my worst, I might as well proceed the rest of my day with confidence. I took a big breath and walked out the door, ready to face the humiliation that the day would bring.

Even if I wanted to, I wouldn't be able to take the day off. There is no such thing. The glades top three rules are, always do your part, never harm another Glader and never go into the Maze. Newt, always drilled them into my head relentlessly. It was annoying sometimes, but I know he was just looking out for me and I love him for it. I made my way to the cafeteria and there were no odd glances thrown my way. Yet. I got my food from Frypan and spotted Newt, Ben, and Thomas sitting at our usual table. My heart skipped a beat but I couldn't tell if it was from embarrassment or something else. I plopped my tray down and ignored the looks Newt and Thomas exchanged.

"Oh no, looks who's having a bad day. Did your crush see you without your signature lipstick on?" Thomas remarked as Newt and Ben stifled their laughs.

"I'd give you a nasty look for saying that, but I can see you've already got one," I shot back while throwing a slice of bacon at Thomas. Newt burst into laughter as Thomas and I settled our differences with a staring contest. Eventually, I had to blink as looking into Thomas's eyes were intimidating and I felt like he would be able to see flaws in my makeup and find my baby hairs that always frizz up and stick out at awkward angles. After a few minutes of back and forth commentary and gossip, Minho plopped down next to me. I tried my best to pretend that I didn't freak out this morning and that I don't have any insecurities about my appearance. Thankfully, Minho, being Minho, didn't mention this morning turn of events, making me drown in guilt because I ran away from him. Unfortunately, one of the only times I got to spend with all of my friends had to come to an end and everyone proceeded to their jobs.

The rest of the day was uneventful but my friends brightened it up as they always do. Night rolled around before I knew it and I snuggled in my bed, taking care to lock the door in an effort to avoid repeating this morning's events. I collapsed into my covers looking for peace and quiet to end the day. Two hours later I would wake up screaming and drenched in sweat with blood spewn across my sheets.
