Ben's POV
A blood-curdling scream echoed through the tiny chamber that the three of us were pressed up against. We had stopped after crawling endlessly through the air ducts when shivers ran through my spine.
"It's coming from there" Thomas breathed while pointing towards the general direction of the scream. It took us a while to reach an air vent close to the yelling because we barely had any space to move and we had to be very discreet while secretly traveling through the compound. The screams returned as the three of us tried to get as comfortable as possible while still being able to see what was going on. What I saw scarred me for life.
Cassidy and another girl were both standing in a glass box with all of Cassidy's friends from her video and the chancellor watching from outside the cage. Both Cassidy and the girl were plastered with sweat and had blood dripping down their bodies. The girl ran towards Cassidy with a spear in her hand but all Cassidy did is close her eyes. A split second before the girl would have sliced Cassidy in half, Cassidy opened her violet eyes that now seemed to glow almost as if there was a light behind them. Cassidy stuck out a knife that was hidden under her sleeve and drilled it through the other girl. She was dead.
The box slowly slid down while two people in white suits came to pick up the body. The chancellor who was silently watching, beckoned for Cassidy to come and speak with her.
"Ms. Kassandra, please come with me" the Chancellor called while keeping her eyes glued to the clipboard in front of her.
As stealthy as possible, we crept through the countless hallways that Ava lead Cassidy through. The three of us were sweating and panting with adrenaline after we saw the girl being killed. The picture of Cassidy stabbing another person was permanently imprinted in my eyes. Why doesn't she remember us? Why did she kill the other girl? Why were her friends sitting there watching her? Where is the Chancellor taking her? What happened to her?
The Chancellor finally stopped and another WICKED agent next to the door in front of her opened for her and ushered both of them inside. There was a desk in the middle of the room and the wall opposite the door was made of pure glass that overlooked everything surrounding the compound. It was the same room that Cassidy's video was first shot in. The three of us struggle to find a comfortable position in the cramped space while Cassidy and the Chancellor took seats on either side of the desk.
The Chancellor began speaking and with every sentence that escaped her lips, she leaned forward as if she wanted to intimidate Cassidy, "Generally, I tend to be very formal especially in instances dealing with a high ranking associate such as you, however, I want to get straight to the point. You were very distracted today. We paired you with an A41 and you know that you should be able to complete the task without suffering any injuries nor having to put in as much effort as you did. So, I have one question to ask you, is it worth the lives of your friends?"
Cassidy blinked and a look of fear flashed across her face, but she was quick to recover. She leaned forward on the seat as well and straightened her posture, "Why are you doing this?"
"What I'm doing is none of your concern. But what you should be concerned about is whether or not you love that boy," the Chancellor smirked.
Cassidy scoffed, "What boy?"
"Oh, you know exactly who I'm talking about. Minho."
---
"I don't understand why it is so hard for you to just follow simple instructions. All I asked from you is to pretend that you do not know who any of the boys are and not talk to them. And to make it even easier for you, I threatened their lives so that you knew what was at stake here" The Chancellor was obviously bored and tired of Cassidy's behavior. She spoke in short and informal sentences ending them with long, exasperated sighs.
"Please, I'm begging you, I don't know who I am without them but whatever you do, do not hurt them. I promise you that I won't talk to them again"Cassidy's eyes were big and pleading, oozing with an innocence that wasn't in them before.
"Oh, what will I do with you, Cassandra? If I don't kill at least one person, then you won't believe me and you will never take me seriously"
"No, no, no, I believe you. I promise that I will never talk to them again!"
Ava leaned forward and stretched her hand out to touch Cassandra's cheek, "What a pretty face and such potential to be the greatest mind in the world. Such a shame these wonderful gifts were wasted on a girl like you. But, I'm in a nice mood and so I will forgive you. However, you need to continue to train. I need you to be ready for the 819 mission coming soon."
"Yes, thank you thank you thank you."
"Oh, there's no need to thank me just yet. You can thank me once you are able to see so far into the future, that you will never have to beg anyone for anything ever again. Now, sit up straight and do as I said, my Violet-Eyed Princess".

Yay! Ok, here's the next chapter and I don't know if you realized yet but everything is going to start coming together now. I guess that means a maximum of 10 chapters left? Idk- never take my word for anything
Bye for now!!!
