Chapter VII

She didn't look at me with kindness in her eyes like Newt. She didn't look at me with humor in her eyes like Thomas. She didn't look at me with care in her eyes like Ben. She didn't look at me with such delicacy in her eyes like Minho. Her eyes were blank, an empty void of nothingness that continued forever. I would rather have her eyes bore into mine with fierce hatred instead of bearing a hole with nothing inside.

"Cassandra, please have a seat" the lady gestured. I hated being called Cassandra. Most people called me Cassidy and my close friends called me Cassie. People only called me Cassandra when something was wrong.

I warily approached the seat that was placed in front of the desk that she was seated behind. The room everything in the room was all white along with what she was wearing.

"I know you have many questions, and you are probably wondering why you are here as well, however, we have a few questions for you first" the woman was obviously trying to be nice, but her lack of a soul could not be covered up. Normally, no matter what the circumstances, I was always shy around new people, but I was in so much pain after randomly waking up in some random building, that I experienced a strong burst of confidence.

"What the hell! I lived in a Maze - a freaking M.A.Z.E. trying every day to find a way out. Then one day, I woke up in a room watching surveillance cameras of my entire time in the Maze along with my friends. And then, I was carried off to talk to some random person in another all-white room who said she has some questions for me. Like hell I'm gonna answer your questions, you are going to sit down and answer mine. And for the record, I would also like to speak to your interior designer so that I can teach them that colors other than white exist!" All the words came rushing out of my mouth before I could even process what I was saying. At that moment, I felt like the girl I saw in my visions. The confident, cool girl who didn't give a f--- about what others thought about her.

"Okay, I can tell you are in distress so I will allow you three questions to ask me and then I will ask you three questions" the lady replied very calmly in response to my recent outburst. Her relaxed attitude just made me tense up even more. Deep breaths Cassidy. If you keep on acting like this, she could use it to her advantage. Save your energy.

"Fine," I whispered after finally calming down, "where are my friends?"

"Your friends are exactly where you left them, in the Maze" she responded, giving minimal information and barely answering my question. However, I realized that I wouldn't be getting lengthy answers out of her, so I just continued asking my remaining two questions.

"Who are you people? And why am I here?"

"We are WICKED- World in Catastrophe: Killzone Experiment Department. The Maze is an experiment designed to develop an environment where we can attempt to derive a cure for the dreaded Flare. You were accidentally sent to the Maze and we have retrieved you back to where you are supposed to be. WICKED's compound" she explained. I tried to let that all sink in before she began to ask her questions, but it was too much to absorb.

"Do you remember anything of your previous life before the Maze?"

"No, should I?" I lied. I did go through the Changing and I did have the visions, however, I never told anyone about what I saw in the Changing and I didn't want to reveal even the tiniest amount of leverage I may have.

"Did you welcomed among the subjects of the experiment? For instance, you were the only girl, did this ever bother others?" the woman continued to interrogate me and ignored my previous question.

"No, not that I knew of"

"Final question; what do you think of subject A7, or as you know him, Minho?"

"Umm," I gulped, "I'm not really sure what you mean. I mean he's just one of my friends"

The woman glanced down at the clipboard that she was holding and began to write something down.

"Okay," she pointed to the door, "that's all for now. Janson will escort you to complete the B89YT operation".

"Wait, what?!" I exclaimed, I may be stupid, but I vividly remember those words.

A man, who I assumed was Janson, walked up to me and in one swift motion, handcuffed my hands together. As I struggled against my restraints, he injected me with something and the world around me began to blur as I fell to the ground.

---

When I woke up, I assume it had been days or even weeks. I was lying in a bed that was in some sort of hospital. I was hooked up to a heart monitor and something else that I wasn't able to identify. As I examined myself, however, I noticed fresh, new tattoos and scars running up and down my arms. But the biggest change I felt of all was in my brain. I remember. I remember everything.

Aren't you proud of me- I published on a Tuesday! Anyways, this was a short chapter so I decided to write it earlier so that I could publish twice this week.

I've been trying to get my friend to read this book the entire week and I finally got her to read it and she's so obsessed. So, here's a quote from the book, "Sometimes you have to sacrifice your queen to capture the king". If you know what book that is from, you are amazing!

Weekly meme(This is supposed to make you smile because your smile is the best thing about you!):
