The Home Run

Chapter 11

I woke up the next morning to my phone ringing. I groaned and turned over and buried my face in alexs chest. The ringing stopped but then it started again. "baby" alex groaned as he woke up "baby your phone is ringing" he told me. I sighed and answered it. "hello" i said "Dr. Clark?" a mans voice said "yes?" i asked as I sat up and stretched "hey Dr. Clark, this is will. The paramedic at the hospital" he said. I pulled the phone away to check who was calling and i saw it was my mom. "will why are you calling off of my moms phone?" i asked and i noticed alex rub his eyes and watch me "your mom is being taken to the hospital, she asked me to call you." he said. "what do you mean?  What happened?" i asked as I started to get nervous. Alex noticed so he sat up and waited on me to tell him. "she got in a car accident. It wasnt too bad shes just a little scratched up and her blood pressure is high. Were just taking her to the hospital to make sure everything's alright" he told me "let me speak with her" i said. I heard the phone being moved around. "honey im ok. I didn't mean to scare you, i just wanted you to know in case I wasnt home when you got back" my mom told me " is it that bad your not going to be home in 5 hours?" i asked as alex held me for support "i don't know, you know how long it takes at the hospital. But don't worry about me. Enjoy your time. Ill see you when you get back" she told me "i have to go we just arrived" she said and hung up.  "what's wrong?" he asked "my mom was in an accident. They said everything was fine but she's still going to the hospital" i told him as i glanced at the clock. "don't worry, if they said she'll be fine trust them. Youll see her in a little bit." he told me "i know but im so far away. What if something happens and I can't get there in time?" i asked "i felt the exact same way when i heard about you and the baby. We can reschedule your flight to come earlier?" he offered "oh alex im sorry" i told him and pulled him into a hug "it's going to be ok." he said as he grabbed his phine and checked the flights. "Theres one leaving in an hour and a half" he told me "can you reschedule it for me please?" i asked and he nodded.

I got up and started packing. I put on some pants but kept alexs shirt on. "im sorry i have to leave early" i told him. He stood up and walked towards me. "dont apologize, you should be there with her" he reassured me. "but i will miss you" he smirked and put on gym shorts. "ill miss you too" i replied.

We rushed to get ready and we left and headed to the airport. We walked together until we couldn't anymore. "ill call you when i land ok?" i told him "ok and let me know how everything goes" he replied and pulled me into a tight hug "i love you" i told him "i love you too" he smiled and kissed me. I waved bye as i walked through security and directly onto the plane.

The flight took a few hours but as soon as it landed i got in my car and rushed to the hospital. When i got there i went into the emergency room and asked for my mom. The nurse led me to her room and i walked in. "hey mom how are you?" i asked as i sat next to her bed "im ok honey. Theyre just giving me fluids to keep me hydrated and they're going to give me a prescription for some pain but then I'll be on my way home" she told me " I told you didn't have to come" she sighed " I know mom but I was worried, and Alex understood so I'm here" I replied. "How is he? What did you two do?" She asked "He's great honestly. We are dating again" I told her "I'm happy for you" she smiled "Brooklyn and Jack were happy to see me, it's been a while" I told her "have they been missing a lot?" She asked "Yeah, and I miss them all the time. Brooklyn was my best friend in school and I haven't been able to hang out with them as much as I'd like to" I told her "have you ever thought of transferring to Washington?" She asked "I have had thoughts over the weekend but I don't know if everything would work out perfectly. Alex and I are starting fresh. Actually we're doing great. i mean i really only spent a couple days with him but it feels like that's where I should be." I confessed "i'm just going to give it some time and see how things go. Maybe I'll travel to see him or he will travel see me I don't know. I'll give it a few months and once this year is over, maybe if I have feel confident enough I'll move there" I told her. "Well you know I'm moving home in a little bit. Maybe it's time you move too" she suggested smiling "well see mom" I laughed.

It didn't take long for her to get discharged. But when she did we went straight home. We didn't do much, I called Alex let them know that everything was fine. He told me he missed me a lot and he call me tomorrow because jack and Brooklyn came over.

The rest of the day seemed to go pretty quickly. I just hung out with my mom made sure everything was alright and then when I got tired I went into my room and went to sleep.
