Chapter 16: Percy

In six years of knowing her, Percy had never realized what an excellent therapist Annabeth was.

It all started during their meeting in the infirmary. Once Jason had gone around and collected Leo from the machine room, and Annabeth, Hazel, and Frank from bed, Percy told them about Possessed-Piper's message.

When he had finished, there was a very loud silence pervading, broken by Leo yawning loudly.

"Well, it must have been Perry - whatever the stupid prince's name is, right?" he said sleepily, "I guess it's pretty simple then. Admiral Leo gets us to Pylos while the rest of you get a night of blessed sleep, then Frank goes to the Megatron - "

"Megaron," Annabeth corrected.

"Yeah, whatever. Frank goes there with three people, they talk to Perry, get a gift from him that will help us make Gaea go ka-boom at Athens, and we're done."

"I don't know if its so simple," Jason said uneasily, and Percy had to agree, "for one thing, three people to accompany Frank? I thought it was standard to only bring two other people on a quest."

Leo snorted, "And I thought it was standard for spirits to not randomly posses demigods, but I guess we were both wrong."

"Look, that's not the biggest problem," Annabeth interrupted, "our bigger problem is that not one of you even know what the Megaron is."

Percy rolled his eyes, "What does that matter? You're the walking mythology textbook, so obviously you're going to tell us."

Annabeth glared at him, "Well, just so you guys know, a Megaron is - "

"Told you so," Percy muttered.

" - an ancient Greek palace complex, dominated by a central hall, the living quarters, and many shrines and temples. It includes a columned entrance, a pronaos, and and a central cella, and is an architectural predecessor of many of the Greek temples inside it, most of which were added after it was built. In the theory of architecture - "

Percy could feel his eyes glazing over, and thankfully at that moment, Leo yawned very loudly and obviously.

"Annabeth," Leo said, "you're boring us all to sleep. Forget the architectural mumbo jumbo and give us the deets on where to go!"

Annabeth looked furious, "Well, just because you're not interested in - "

"Annabeth," Percy interrupted, "next time I can't go to sleep, then you can come to my bedside and talk about supports and architecture stuff about the Megaron. But right now? Just keep it simple."

Annabeth shook her head, muttering something that sounded very much like boys.

"I think we should go," Hazel said seriously, "if it's a trap - "

" - which it might be, because Gaea probably knows that Frank will want to visit Pylos." Jason interrupted. Hazel glared at him.

"Let me finish.  If it's a trap, we might get a chance to figure out something about Gaea's plans based on how she attacks. But it could also mean the difference between winning and losing the war."
