Chapter 16
The next day I open my eyes, looking straight into the hole in my wall made from Kenny. My stomach instantly turned as I remembered why it's there. A tear glided down my face as I turned around.
Dana was perched up on one arm, staring at me. I closed my eyes quickly as I smiled, in an attempt to draw attention away from me crying.
"Good morning." I said. "Hi." He said back. "Were you staring at me?" I ask him, opening my eyes again. He nodded. "You're cute when you sleep." "You were watching me." He shrugs. "So what?"
I couldn't help but laugh a bit. "Creep." He laughs back. "Whatever."
I snuggle up into him. He wraps his arms around me, engulfing me in warmth. "You make me feel safe you know that?"
He kissed my forehead, making me smile. "As much as I would love to stay like this all day, we have a place to be." I look up to him. "We do?" Then I remember the note. "Yep. So get ready. We leave at," he checks his watch. "Noon." I nod and get out of bed.

At noon, we were on our way to the first destination; our park. I looked over at him, failing to hold back a smile. "Really?" He chuckles and looks down. "We're having a picnic. I packed everything last night and put it in the trunk while you were getting ready."
"You really want this to be perfect." I say to him. He nods. "Shall we?" I nod and head to my trunk. Dana unlocks it and pulls out a beautifully woven picnic basket. We head to a far part away from everyone, to watch the children play.
"I never understood why people wanted to grow up so bad." I say biting into my sandwich. "I mean, yes, getting older gives you a lot more advantages but a lot more rules. Everything just gets harder." I look to find Dana staring at me.
"What?" He chuckles as he wipes mustard off my cheek. I smile shyly, suddenly self conscious. "How do you even get mustard on your cheek....." He chuckles and looks at me.
I clear my throat and look away. "I just wish I could be a kid again where nothing would be as complicated as it is now."

"Where do we go now?" I say as we are in the car again. "Ice cream." Dana answers as he starts up the car and pulls out of the lot. "Didn't we already have ice cream?" He chuckles and begins to drive to Cold Stone. "That didn't work out. This can be a do over." I nod.
As we pull up to the ice cream shop, I look out my window and see something I wasn't prepared to ever see again. "Dana." He looks at me. "Why is Kenny outside?" He looks to where I was staring, to have Kenny stare right back to him.
"Let's just go inside." I tell him. "You sure? We can go back home if you want." I shake my head. "I'm not afraid." When in reality I was scared out of my panties. I flip my hand in a "psh, no" kind of way, and open my door. I step out and don't look his way as Dana follows me inside the shop. Out of the corner of my eye I see him walk away, which makes me take a breath.
"Let's get something completely different this time." I tell him. "Like a random flavor neither of us have tried before. We pick for each other." He smirks at me. "You hate trying new things." I cross my arms. "It's called being spontaneous." He shrugs. "Sure. Whatever you say."
As we get up to the counter I look at the current flavors on display. I decide on toffee since most people like that. "I'll have a medium Lemon Pie Surprise with a-" he looks to me. "Toffee cream." Dana nods. "Toffee cream." He pays and we wait for our orders.
"I'm gonna hate you if you picked me a flavor that tastes disgusting." He chuckles at my threat. "I think the lemon tastes pretty good." The cashier says to me. "You guys a couple?" Dana immediately shakes his head. "Best friends."
