Chapter Twenty-Nine: Verbatim

10k's Pov

I limped out to the balcony to see Y/n leaning again the railing, her eyes on the night sky. "Beautiful isn't it?" I walked-well limped..- closer. She glanced at me. "Yeah.." I stood beside her looking up at the moon. She was holding a bottle of.. Vodka?

She smiled, her speech slurred. "Do you remember that time, when your Pa took us out on the lake that one Summer night?" I blushed, looking at the stars. "I got sea-sick. How could I forget?" She took a sip and wiped her mouth. Her body turned towards me ever so slightly but she was staring at the sky, her arm leaning against the railing. "It was your 18th birthday, marking my 4th year being with you guys. You got sea-sick, while Pa and I got hammered." I blushed in embarrassment.

Tell her. It's perfect time. Do it!

"Hey uh Y/n?" Her eyes trailed slowly towards me. They were slightly dull in color. Not those bright e/c eyes from before. I smiled down at her. 'The apocalypse has that effect..' She furrowed her eyebrows in amusement, raising one. "10?" I gulped.

I corrected her. "It's Tommy." She smiled up at me. That smile. The one that always melted me. "Right, Tommy." I felt a tingly feeling in my chest. "I'm so glad we found each other." Her head tilted. "I promised I'd come back didn't I?" Her necklace seemed to shimmer. My face relaxed. "Yeah.." She took a swig and smiled, rather cheekily and stumbled forward.

My eyes widened as time slowed and she fell into me. My arms wrapped around her as we stumbled backwards but I caught my footing before we could fall onto the ground..

She giggled and spoke quietly. "Won't you say what's on your mind?" I opened my mouth to speak but she began softly singing. "Say what's on your mind, verbatim." I chuckled, singing the next line. "Tell me that you mine." "Show me what you made of~" We looked at each other and sang quietly. "Say what's on your mind~" She smirked. "Say that shit verbatim." I chuckled again. "God you're amazing." She smiled a sweet smile. "You know that imma be the one that's there for you when you ain't got nobody. Swear to God. Won't you say whats on your mind?~" I gulped.

Now.

"I love you." Her eyes lit up. "Thats not the next line?" I held back a laugh. "You're hammered." She looked down at the bottle in her hand and then my hand, that was still on her waist from our small setback.

She began to fall and I tightened my grip and tried to hold her up but fell down onto my ass. She was on her knees in front of me smirking. She leaned forward so that we were centimeters apart, and by we, I mean our lips. Our foreheads were touching. "Y/n?" Her calm eyes meet mine. "Yes?"

"You aren't doing this because you are drunk?.. Right?.." She tilted her head. "Wha-?" Suddenly she slumped. I sighed with a smile. "She fell asleep.." I flinched in pain of my shoulder. Warren walked out and smiled, raising her eyebrow to ask me that silent question.

She observed me as I shook my head. "I did but she was to drunk to understand me.." She walked over and picked up Y/n. "I saved a bed for you guys. It's in the back." I nodded and she walked away.

I sat there for few more minutes before struggling to get up from the pain. When I walked into the backroom, Y/n was cuddled up to a pillow. I smiled but heard groans. Z groans.

Carefully pulling out my knife, I leaned up against the doorframe. I looked over and my breath hitched in my throat. There were Z's filing in the cabin. "A horde?"

I slowly closed the door and locked it. My next thought was Y/n. I walked over and looked down at her. Slowly my hand retch for her, but she looked so peaceful.. I couldn't wake her. Instead, I sat on the bed beside her.

I kept voice was quiet, so the Z's wouldn't hear me.
