Chapter Twenty-Six: Deja vu

A/n: these next couple chapters will be confusing. Our precious 10k experiences some Deja vu that are a lot like Chapter Twenty-Five. Rest assured that there are changes and might even be some cute scenes if you still want to read. Welp, good luck following along!

10k's Pov

I froze as I began to wake up. My eyes slowly opened and I felt my breath hitch, heat consumed my cheeks. In front of me, Y/n was curled up to my chest, our legs tangled together. I bit my lip seeing her innocent face. She wasn't scowling or angry, or even scared.

Wait.. Wasn't she bit? I slowly brushed her hair out of the way of where I was looking. No bite..

Her eyes opened slowly. She looked terrified for a moment but then sighed. "Oh It's just you 10k."

My eyes narrowed. She seemed to notice and her eyes lit up in alarm. "D-Did I say something wrong?" I stared at her, convinced we already had this conversation, but shook my head with a relieved smile. I pulled her even closer, burying my face in her hair. "No no, you're fine. Are you in any pain?" She smiled. "What's with the sudden hug? Other than my body aching, I'm fine." I nodded smiling back. Her smile is so damn beautiful that I got lost in her eyes.

In the distance we heard banging. "Puppies and Kittens! We gotta go!" Y/n sat up and groaned in pain. I got out of bed and held my hand out to her. Deja vu set in as she looked at it confused. She set her soft hand in it. I held her hand while she climbed out of bed.

She ran to the living room with me right behind her. I zipped her bag and slung it over my shoulder along with mine. "10-" "don't argue, I got it." She nodded grabbing her machete off the side velcro. Banging on the door alerted us. She nodded again while I opened it. Instantly a Z rushed in and I kicked it hard in the shin, Y/n's machete latched into it's skull.

"Lets go 10." I scanned the hall. Her eyes darted to the door as a Z ran past. She walked out, swinging to her left and killing another Z, but wincing in pain. I grabbed her hand and took off towards the door. like before, she cut down every threat. At the main entrance, Warren stood beside everyone else. Y/n walked ahead next to her.

"Still got that radio? I might be able to rig the wiring again to contact Si- Citizen Z." Warren handed it to her as we began walking. I rubbed my temples because all of it hurt my brain. Doc looked at me and Cassandra nodded to him as they slowed their pace to match mine. I sighed at them and Doc slapped my shoulder. "Don't be sad Kid-" Cassandra once again rushed while looking at Y/n, who was ahead of us with Warren.

"We think you should tell Y/n." I shrugged. "I can't..". "Either you, or Warren~" I sighed and sped up past them..

Murphy was still drinking his third
bottle of vodka. "10, we need to scout ahead!"; I looked up and saw Y/n walking towards a different path." I caught up with her.

"Citizen Z said there was another storm coming in a few hours. Warren wants us to go scout ahead and look for another non-infested place."

I nodded, not even looking in Cassandras direction. "Let's go."

I started thinking of the way I'm experiencing the same day again, but was careful to watch my step.

"Ah-" I looked in Y/n's direction to see she was dealing with a few Z's that were bulkier than the average. I grabbed my sling and ran for the best angle.

When I shot the last one I sighed. I turned to check the area when a Z that I apparently didn't kill ran at me. I couldn't reach my sling in time and he pushed me backwards, right over that ledge.

Y/n grabbed my hand and my torso slammed against the rock. I coughed again. Her body was instantly dropped to the ledge as she held my arm. I stared into her pained eyes.

Fuck Fuck Fuck Fuck!

"Y/n-" "Oh shit.. Z's!" I instantly started to panic. "Y/n, let go or you'll die!". "No Way 10!". "y/n!" She retch for her machete. "I said no!" I heard bushes rustle and then cracking. My eyes shot to the ledge, it was collapsing. Again. I heard crumbling.

She fell forward, towards me. Time seemed to slow as I retch towards her, in attempt to prorect her, but it was in vain. My back slammed into the ground and I coughed blood.

My ears were ringing, and everything ached. I opened an eye and instantly turned to Y/n. She was laying on her back, eyes on the sky. Blood dripped down her lip. I shot up and ran over to her. "Y/n!.. Y/n!" She smiled, and thats when I noticed that it all turned out the same. "Tommy.." "why didn't you just drop me! You wouldn't have gotten bit!"

She smiled a sad, almost weak smile. "I told him I would protect you. Looks like my sacrifice was worth it."

Her eyes closed and I yelled out in frustration.
