I opened the door to Percy's room, expecting it to look like exactly like a typical 'sporty' boys room you read about in all those young adult, highschool romance books. I know! Boring right? Except Percy's room was nothing like that.
The room was massive. One the left side of the room, two doors led off to what i could only assume to be his own bathroom and a walk-in closet. On the other side of the room, there was a huge comfy looking king bed. The far side of the room was a giant window that opened up onto a balcony. Of course with white curtians swinging in the breeze, because no mansion is set without them.
Instead of posters of sports teams and players, Percy had FRAMED pictures of singers and several old bands. I hadn't been in many guys rooms over the years, but even so, I had never seen a framed picture hanging on the wall.
It was clear that Percy was very much so into music. Alongside the posters, he had several guitars hanging off the wall besides his bed. An acoustic, an electric, a bass guitar as well. An amp underneath the electric and bass.
"Wow." I said in disbelief. "I didn't know you liked music so much."
"Its only a hobby really." Percy explained. "And only one of the guitars is really mine."
"How's that?" I asked.
"The electric and bass are - well were - my granddads while he was in a band." Percy said. "And then when he passed away in a tour accident, it was written in his will that he wanted me to have them."
"Aw, im sorry Percy." I said softly.
"I barely ever use them." Percy stated. "You can have a look at them if you like, just don't break anything. You know how to play?"
I nodded and walked over to the guitars. I trailed my fingers over the the seperate bodies of them, admiring the make. "This is a Fender Telecaster isn't it?"
Percy nodded.
"Said to be one of the best makes of electric guitars ever made." I admired. "And they're sure as hell not cheap too. Plays like a boss i heard."
"Go ahead, plug it in." Percy offered. He picked up the guitar cable from the floor and plugged one end of it into the input of the amp. I took the Fender off the hanger and took the other end of the cable, plugging it into the output jack.
I tested the volume quickly, adjusting it slightly until it sounded good enough to my ears. I practiced playing a few chords, accidentally playing the chords to "I'm Yours" by Jason Mraz. I ended up playing the entire riff to Thunderstruck.
Percy started singing along after he realised what i was actually playing. "Thunder! Aaah ah ah ahhh!"
I laughed at him and kept playing, and he kept singing. "And i was shaking at the knees. Could i come again please. Yeah them ladies were too kind. You've been...thunderstruck!" He whipped his head around back and forth, and i had to give it to him, he did a pretty good impression of Brian Johnson.
I stopped playing as the riff just repeated itself after the first few bars. I switched to playing the theme song of Pirates of the Caribbean, a personal favourite of mine.
Percy sat down on the bed and listened to me as i played. Soon after there came a knock on the door and in walked the butler from earlier, David. "Donuts, Master Percy?"
"Thanks David." Percy took the plate of donuts from David's hand and held out a fist. David smacked it with hid own fist and walked out the room.
Percy placed the plate of donuts on the bed, and i unplugged the cable from the guitar, resting it on the floor, hanging the Fender back into its hook on the wall. I sat on the bed, crossing my legs underneath me as i took a donut from the pile.
"So, Mystery Man." I said, after i swallowed my first mouthfull of donut. "Do you have any other secret talents?"
"Uh...I can catch things in my mouth if you throw them right?" Percy asked. "Does that count."
"Sure, but let's test it." I grabbed one of the smaller donuts holes from the pile, probably one of mine, and lobbed it up towards him.
Luckily for him, he proved he could catch it in his mouth, and chewed and swallowed before smiling a big toothy grin at me. "Told ya!"
I laughed at him and took another bite of my donut. "Anything else?"
Percy thought about it for a while. "I used to be able to burp the alphabet. That was pretty talented if i do say so myself. But then i lost it after a few years, can't even burp on command anymore."
I surprised him by forcing a burp out and burping the first six letters of the alphabet out. "Ta-da!" I took a small, overly exaggerated bow.
Percy clapped with a donut still in his hand. "Bravo! Bravo!"
I was about to grab another donut but Percy yanked the plate out of my reach. The pile was already half the size it was when David brought it here. "Save some. We can get Maria to put them in a doggy bag, and you can take them home with you."
"I have something I want to show you." Percy said, and took hold of my hand once again. He led be out onto the balcony and opened a little gate on side of the balcony fence. It opened up to a kind of fire-escape, except it was more of a staircase really. It led all the way to the floor, and stopped about three metres off the floor.
Percy jumped off first, crouching once he hit the floor to soften the impact, showing off his calf muscles in the process. Next it was my turn and Percy told me to jump into his arms, and he wouldn't let me fall to the floor.
I didn't entirely trust him, but jumped anyway. Well more like lowered myself into his arms. He put me down safely on the floor and once again took my hand.
I think Percy Parker has a thing for hand holding.
"So Percy, care to tell me where you're taking me?" I asked with a smile on my face.
"To the pool!" Percy squealed like a little girl and smiled back.
Well, well, well. I am back again. This time on the other story. Yeah, thats rigtht. I came back from the dead last week, and if you haven't already checked on the latest chapter of Look What The Cat Dragged In, you definitely should.
