A Badboy, Some Football & A Nerd

Chapter XVIII:

Percy fell into the water with a massive splash, displacing litres upon litres of water. Luckily for me, I stepped back from the edge of the pool, out of the splash zone.

He came up out of the water, coughing up his lungs. He flicked his hair out of his eyes, making the heart in my chest burst the seam and come free.

"Oh, you are so dead for that one!" Percy laughed and lunged at my ankles out of the water . I don't think he accounted for the fact every action you take is slower underwater and I had plenty of time to step out of the way.

"Am I really?" I said, with a flirty smile on my face. "Because, it seems to me, that you're the one in the water and I'm the one nice and dry."

Percy started walking towards me, making his way up the steps. "But for how long? Because that is the question. What you should be really thinking about, is how long you have to escape."

"How long I have to escape?" I started slowly backing away from the edge of the pool. "I'm no genius but by my calculations, I should have at least twenty seconds before you catch me." And before he had the chance to even comprehend what I had just said, I sprinted away from the pool and back the way we came from.

It took Percy a few seconds before his gears got moving and he jumped out of the pool to race after me. Water flew everywhere as Percy slipped across the wet tiles and onto the grass surrounding the pool area. I had already made it into the garden and was hopping over hedges and garden beds.

As Percy stepped onto the grass, he slipped once again, sliding down the slight slope on his ass, making the butt of his shorts green. He scrambled to get up, and raced even faster after me.

Within seconds he had caught up with me, flying over hedges and garden beds with ease. He wrapped his arm around my waist, hoisting me into the air. "Seventeen seconds. I guess you were wrong. Now we're going in!"

I smacked his back and attempted to struggle out of his grip, but had definitely tightened his grip since before.
