Third POV
John Laurens had his boyfriends by his side ever since they met. When they were busy, John was usually left home alone since he worked at home. While Hercules, Lafayette, Alexander, and Aaron were at work, there was a hurricane warning. John knew his boyfriends were safe. They were at their work places and they could seek safety there. But, what about him? They lived in a house a few minutes away from New York city and they lived close to the coast. When John got his work done, he usually liked to go to the city, visit his boyfriends, and go on a walk. Every day.
Y/n was an orphan. She had no one to go to and she hated orphanages. So, she lived on the streets. She only heard about the warning when her brother ran over to her and picked her up, running off with her. It was raining hard but Y/n knew it was a normal rain storm. Apparently, it wasn't.
Y/n's POV
I managed to get out of my brother's tight grip and asked," What're you doing?" My older brother picked me up again but we walked through the rain this time. He said," Y/n, there's going to be a hurricane." I asked," What's that?" He moved a strand of my H/C hair and tucked it behind my ear before saying," It's a bad storm." I asked," What's a storm?" He answered," Rain, thunder, lightning, wind..." Before I could ask anymore questions, he walked into an alleyway. I asked," What're we doing?" He set me down and I watched as he tried to climb on top of a few crates. It didn't work. My brother was too weak to get to the fire escape. He always gave me his food whenever he had any and if we were both sick and he had medicine, he'll give it to me. He hasn't eaten in a long time.
I asked," B/n?" I walked over, trying to get my four year old self to hurry over. He sighed and picked me up. He said," Sorry." His eyes brightened and he ran out of the alley and down the street. I clutched onto him and realized we were going to the park.
He set me on the playground equipment, not to mention the highest part of it. He said," Stay here. I'll be right back." I nodded at his words and watched him disappear down the street. I never saw him again.
I noticed that water was beginning to lap up to the curbs of the streets. I clutched onto a pole that was apart of the playground equipment, suddenly worried about my brother. Then, I saw a man not to far from me hurrying to the playground equipment that I was on.
John's POV
I got the warning when I was walking a few blocks away from the park. It was pouring rain. It felt like someone above me was constantly pouring a bucketful of water on me. When I made it to the park, I realized that water was lapping against the curbs of the streets. I cursed," Shit." I looked at the playground equipment, wondering if maybe I could climb up on top of the equipment somehow. I saw the tallest playground equipment which had a set of stairs leading up to a lower platform and monkey bars that led to an even higher platform. After the second platform, there was another set of monkey bars that led to the third platform, which was the highest one. There was a roof above the third platform and I wondered if maybe I could somehow climb up onto the roof. Not a smart idea but I kinda don't want to drown.
I approached the steps and climbed up to the first platform. I looked at the monkey bars, a huff leaving my lips. I managed to get across the monkey bars and that's when I saw a kid sitting by themselves on the third platform. I looked at them in confusion. I asked," Hello?" The four-year old girl looked at me and greeted," Hi." The kid reminded me a bit of Aaron. They were quiet and didn't speak much. I asked," What're you doing out here?" I made my way to the final platform.
