Third POV

Aaron had problems. He had depression and terrible anxiety all because of his past. He's lost many people and gained many enemies. He always felt alone and decided it'd be best to fade into the background. At a young age, Aaron learned that he had multiple soulmates. He had four soulmates. He had a tattoo that stretched from his wrist to his shoulder with delicate designs drawn all over his arm. There were five animals. The first animal (which was at his shoulder) was a male lion with a thick mane that was roaring. The second animal was a red fox with sharp eyes. The third animal was a turtle that was decorated in beautiful bright colors. The fourth animal was a wolf that stood proudly, showing off its glamorous fur coat. Finally, the fifth animal was a grey house cat lying down with dangerous eyes. Each animal had no eye color, besides the cat. The cat represented Aaron, showing off its beautiful green eyes. Each animal represented Aaron's soulmates and if he found his soulmates, the animals all would have color in their eyes.

Despite the awesome tattoo, Aaron was terrified. To show the color of the animals' eyes, Aaron would have to kiss his soulmates. He did not want to go around and kiss people just to find his soulmates. Aaron gave up on trying to find his soulmates. Aaron stuck around with his best friend, James Madison and put up with his soulmate Thomas Jefferson. Thomas had a group much like Alexander did. Thomas' group consisted of James Madison (Thomas' soulmate), Charles Lee, and Aaron. Aaron loved his new friends except Lee. Lee was a pain in the ass and he didn't have a soulmate. When Lee heard of Aaron's lie that Aaron didn't have any soulmates, Lee bought it completely and wanted to start a relationship with Aaron. Aaron agreed since he thought this was the closest he would get to love. Apparently not. Lee was abusive and dangerous. Thomas and James had no idea and Aaron's friendship with James was fading away fast. He had no escape and could only wait through the pain.

Alexander had his own group also but it was only him and his soulmates. His three soulmates were Lafayette, John Laurens, and Hercules Mulligan. Alexander and his soulmates all had the same tattoo. A lion, a fox, a turtle, a wolf, and then a...house cat. A house cat was a very rare thing to have as a tattoo. It was one of the most unique tattoos out there and this just made Alexander and his soulmates want to find their soulmate even more. They knew they were close to their soulmate since the cat's eyes sometimes flashed green. Unfortunately, they never found their soulmate.

Aaron's POV

I flinched at the loud sound of my locker slamming shut. I glared at Alexander who was the one who unexpectedly slammed it shut. I said," Motherfucker." Alexander teased," What? Did I do something?" He grabbed my book and I glared up at him. I was shorter than him and he was taller. Of course he was going to do that. I said," Whatever." I huffed as I walked off. It wasn't like I needed that book anyways, right? It was just a random book I picked off of the shelf. I tugged at the sleeves of my hoodie and tried to hide my tattoo. I couldn't let Charles see it or anyone. I did say I didn't have any soulmates, right? Yes, yes I did. And everyone knows, including Alexander. Why does Alexander even bother with me?

The school day ended quickly. I was steered home by Charles, who constantly needed to show some form of affection in front of others. I bit the inside of my cheek while I listened to Lee ramble on about something when I spotted Alexander. I looked away quite quickly and asked," Can we go home, now? Please?" Lee glared at me but eventually nodded. I tried not to move away from Lee's touch when he wrapped an arm around my waist and just kept one thought in my head: Don't focus on Lee.

I lay awake in bed at night, listening to Charles' soft and calm breathing. Blood ran down the side of my face and I smelled the terrible smell of coppery blood. I let out a silent breath and hoped I wasn't waking Charles. I skillfully slid out of bed and headed into the bathroom to clean my face. I couldn't fall asleep to the smell of blood or the sticky feeling of it. I grabbed a white washcloth and began to dab at the blood carefully. I turned on the water and cringed when I realized how loud it was. I quietly cleaned my face and began to carefully take out glass that was embedded in my skin. I let out a shaky breath when I felt the glass leaving my skin and tears pricked the corners of my eyes. I continued taking out the glass until I couldn't see through the blood. I cleaned my cuts that I received from the glass and cleaned the bathroom floor. I turned off the light in the bathroom but instead of heading back to bed like usual, I stayed in the bathroom and called James. I must've hundreds of times since I soon realized that the sun was starting to peek through the blinds. I gave up and decided to get ready for another school day.
