"Aye, wassup Yel." Somebody greeted me as I left out of the weight room. I sighed and nodded. I was about as hot as fuck. I didn't wanna sit and talk at the moment.
They continued to follow me all the way towards girls locker room. "You wanna eat some of your fans know-"
"Get that phone out of my face from recording me." I said between clenched teeth as I left inside the locker room. I went through my gym bag and grabbed a clean pair of clothes and my towel and body wash along with some flip-flops. Then headed for the showers. I tucked my dreads into a high ponytail and turned on the hot water after locking my stall.
I hated public showers. They were so short and ironic because you had no privacy whatsoever. I found myself ducking to put on my clothes afterwards. I left out and to my bag, pulling on socks then shoes.
When I got out of the locker room, I met up with a friend of mine who supplied me with some weed here and there. I got my dime bag and left to my car to roll up. I stayed high before I got home so I could deal with the bullshit at home. Nobody was clicking me about it anyways so I stayed doing it. I had my own money courtesy of my dad giving me a job at the warehouse he worked at. My mom was on crack and my stepmom gave no fucks about me unless my dad was in the room.
I was the oldest of two step brothers and a very quiet but self obsessed biological sister who looked like our mom before she got on drugs.
Somebody knocked on my car window the minute I put out the last of the dooby. I looked at them with lazy eyes and exhaled my smoke in their faces the minute I let down my window.
It was a girl. She was brown and pretty with a short pixie cut curly hairdo. She fanned the smoke away and looked at me.
"Could you help us with something really quick?" She asked me.
I shook my head. "What you need help with?" I asked contradicting myself.
"We need someone to help with the theater props to take to the back. Where the theater is." She said to me. I nodded this time and said nothing as I unlocked my door. She hopped in on the passenger side and I backed out in a rush.
Following her instructions to back up near the front of the building and a white boy with red hair that didn't plan on moving out the way the closer I got to him.
She hopped out and moved to him. Shock was written on my face the moment she greeted him with a kiss and a smile so bright I thought I'd go blind. I got out the car and tucked my keys in my pocket.
"This is Cole. Cole this is Yellona." The girl announced. I nodded at Cole and he nodded back. Then we got to work lifting props into the back of my trunk and left it opened as I drove to the theater part of school, letting Cole out to use the long and wide Dolly to pull the props into the building.
"I'll be right back. Just going to get the last of the props." I told the Nia long looking chick. She nodded and waved me off after I got in my car then drove away backwards just to show off.
A shadow appeared at my back window and I pressed on my breaks immediately, causing me to tap the person softly. "Oh shit." I cussed getting out of my car.
I ran to the side closest to where the person was and realized it was my imagination playing tricks on me when nobody was there.
"I need to stop smoking..." I said to myself as I got back in and drove to the front after facing my car the right way. I grabbed the few things and sped back towards the theater. Happy to see actual faces as I got out and helped moved the rest of the things inside the theater.
It was dark and warm with teens going up and down each aisle of chairs placing small red lights at each outter chair, reminding me of that one movie with those kids wrecking the place before they got killed in cold blood. I didn't wanna think about dying.
