I saw the way she looked at my mom through my window while they talked. I saw how her body responded as well.

Tense but welcoming. Like she knew her or she wanted to get to know her, but psychology wasn't gonna help me out of this punishment. I still didn't get it either. Why was she treating me like this when she knew the circumstances of me not being home on time? It wasn't fair.

"Mom, can I stay at Dad's?" I asked her after I'd showered for the second time and walked into the kitchen where she was beginning to cook.

My dad's apartment, well, condo was a step above this. I might not have my phone but she let me keep my tablet and my dad's WiFi was fast.

"Yes." Was all she said. She didn't even ask why and I didn't wanna question it so I just left back to my room and packed a bag.

The moment I stepped foot out the front door and grabbed my school bag near it, my mom had caught me by the arm and turned me to look at her. "Don't step foot over that girl's house again. She's not good for you sweetie." She said to me. I frowned and pulled away from. Who was she to say that?

"Just cause she ran off from your class the other day doesn't mean I have to not like her." I said to my mom in a hostile tone. I overheard some kids talking about it and put all the shit together. My mom liked to embarras people in front of others. She couldn't do it when she was alone at home with me. She wasn't even the same person at home as she was at school.

"You heard what I said. I don't care if you're watching her little sister. Find a real job." She said to me then let me go slamming the front door behind her. One of her many talents. She knew I was right and couldn't even retaliate back.

"Whatever..." I said to myself as I got into my car and threw my duffel bag to the backseat, placing my school bag in the passenger seat. I backed out after texting my dad that I was on my way.

My phone dinged that I had a message the moment I got on the road. I picked it up at a stoplight and sighed.

Dad: I can't have you here just yet. I have company over. Sorry baby girl. I'll let you meet her one day. ☺️

"Are you fucking serious?" I asked my phone. Just then it dinged again. It was Babe and she wanted to know if I wanted to hang. I smiled. Saved by the Bell.

I'm omw there in a minute. Do you mind if I sleep over at your place?

It took ages for her to write back and by the time she did, I was driving again. My safety was more important than a text message so I waited until I was at a decent stop light to look.

Babe: My mom said that's fine. Is everything okay @ home?

I contemplated saying no, but I knew how Babe was. So I texted back.

Thank you. I'm omw.

When I got there, her and Cole were leaned up against his Rusty sky blue truck hugged up. I smiled and parked my car, but didn't get out until I pulled in my hoodie on. I grabbed my duffel bag from my back seat and left up to hug her.

"You look... Wet." She said pulling me from her hug. I laughed.

"I had just gotten out of the shower before I asked to leave to my dad's." I informed her. She'd nodded in understanding. Her and Cole are the only two who knew about my mom and dad talking of divorce. They were so understanding and they didn't judge. They were my only friends.
