I hated suspense. It always make me sit on the edge of the chair, or couch or bed or sometimes I had to stand up already because I couldn't handle it any longer. That's what I was feeling when the doctor went out of Jace's room and called for her mom.

My heart, it's beating too fast. The doctor's talking but I didn't hear him. I couldn't hear anything at all. It felt like everything around me muted.

"Honey, are you okay?" I saw Jace's mom in front of me with worry. I shouldn't add myself to the problem. Maybe I just didn't have enough rest.

"I'm okay," I said to ease her.

She smiled but it didn't reach her ear. I noticed that the doctor wasn't there with us anymore. I looked at her again and she was already in the bridge of crying.

"What did the doctor say?" I asked, my heart pulsated even harder on my chest.

"He's dying..." she said. The words stung so deep that I didn't think I could stand up straight.
