When I stepped inside the hospital, the first thing I'd heard was a wail of a woman. They were at the waiting area but most of them were crying. Whoever they were crying for, he or she was loved.

I went up to see Jace then. I texted his mom but she didn't reply. I was thinking that maybe she was busy talking to her son. I would've ignored my phone as well if Jace had already woken up and just spent more time with him.

I saw Alexa at the waiting area by then. She was using her phone. I walked up to her and sat on the empty seat next to her.

"Hi, Alexa," I said. She looked up at me but I was surprised that she had puffy eyes.

What's going on?

"Hey. What's wrong?" I asked, putting my arm around her shoulder. "Tell me what's wrong."

She rested her head on my shoulder and she was weeping already. I wanted to know why was she crying like that.

"Alexa-"

"Jace... he's... he's..." she sobbed and wasn't able to form a coherent sentence.

I stiffened. It couldn't be.

Jace...

He was supposed to wake up and smile and greet us a good morning. He was supposed to talk to us and tell us that he was feeling alright already.

"Tell me, Alexa, what happened to your brother?" I asked.

She looked up to me, still crying. "He's gone, Emma. Jace is gone."
