===Kasey's POV===

It took a while, but Chaos managed to convince me to stay outside for today. He doesn't want to be alone, poor guy...shadow. Still have to work on that.

Chaos oddly acted like I expected him to act. Childish, yet can easily change his demeanor in a few seconds of conversation. He almost decided to jump after a butterfly over the water. I managed to stop him by asking a lot more questions, making him forget about the butterfly.

But I knew that time was passing, and that I should probably get back inside my house. But then...

"Bonded One?"

I look up at the shadow, who had a face of concern, "Yeah?"

"You will not leave me alone?"

I held my hands together, to keep myself from fidgeting, "Weh-we-we-well Chaos..." I stuttered, "I...I still have to do school stuff. I have to leave in the mornings, but I come back around this time in the afternoon...to, uh, learn." I tried to explain.

Chaos' chest rumbled, indicating that he was a bit angry. I understood that some of his growls meant different things. If it was within his chest, muffled and low, it was a more calm sense of the feeling. If he uses his throat or mouth, it is a strong and sharper sense of the feeling.

"Bonded One," Chaos scolded, "You are smart. You no need learn in school of stuff. You can learn later."

"The thing is I can't, Chaos," I corrected him quickly, "I still have to go to school, and only if I am not sick. If I am, I stay home."

"Do they carry you to school if you are not sick and home and not sick?"

I barely noticed the broken sentence, "Well...no..." I finally admitted.

"Then are they all angry and yell at you when you do not go, after you go again?" Chaos asked. For a shadow, he is pretty observant with questions...

"N-no..."

Chaos huffed, sensing my nervousness, before gently placing the top of his snout on my head, and he chittered, "Then you can stay?"

"Chaos...I do want to stay, but I c-"

I didn't even finish my sentence when I spotted something across the river.

At the edge of the river, was something dark. It had white gleaming eyes that I barely managed to notice, before it went backwards and faded into the shadows.

I frowned.

Chaos looked up, then placed his head back onto mine, "Ignore the Silent Shadow. They no good hunting at other humans."

"...that's reassuring," I said in concern. I couldn't be bothered to make my voice sound sarcastic. It's hard to do that. I glance around, and finally notice these odd details that I haven't before. There were more of these shadow abbirations, some looking like rabbits, and others like other creatures. Heck, there was even one alligator under the water a little ways away.

"Chaos...do you see all of this? Were they here before?"

Chaos seemed to understand my confusion, but left me with more questions, "Bonded One. They were always there. You just can not See before we became one."

I frowned, and watched as a black bird flew to the water, and captured a fish. It flew off into the distance, and I remained silent as I observed everything. It was a lot to take in, but at the same time, it was easy to notice the little hints of movement under the water. Maybe getting the general idea is hard, but noticing details became quick and easy.

I turn back to Chaos, "Well, it's cool." Then, Chaos' ears drew back, probably in confusion. I sigh, and shake my head. "Nevermind. Um, so, I soon have to go again.'

I felt myself tense as he shifted himself so he was closer to me, "No. I don't want you to go. I want you to stay. Stay safe, with me."

I sighed, not wanting to go through this again...and he seemed to notice, because he stared out at the waters. "But what if you are cold?"

"I'll wear something warmer."

Chaos drew his ears back, and huffed, "No fur."

I shrugged, "We humans find ways."

Chaos stared at the waters a bit longer, before looking back at me. "Okay. Okay. I believe you. I don't want you to be hurt."

I smiled softly, "Aww, Chaos..." I lightly tap his arm, "It's alright. I'll visit you when I can."

Chaos chittered softly, then his ears went straight up as he growled. I frowned, and moved away from him, but then also heard another growl. I turn around to see something...surprising.

A misty figure stood tall, a little ways away, but it was close enough to be seen. It was dark grey, with light grey eyes. It seemed humanoid enough.

I look at Chaos, "Is that a shadow?"

Judging purely from the tense aura I felt, it must not be. But Chaos confirmed it with a chirp. Quicker than I could react, Chaos got up and leapt to the figure. It dodged the attack, and I gasped as long claws raked at Chaos' neck, but the shadow ducked out of the way.

The figure then looked over at me, and I could make out teeth as it smiled.

I felt something pierce my back, like ice. However, instead of pain, I felt numb. I couldn't move at all. Something grabbed me, and I could hear Chaos' muffled screech. I wasn't sure what was happening.

A lurch in my stomach told me that I seemed to have jumped somewhere.

I blink my eyes as I felt the air become less humid, and more chilling. My eyes adjusted to the darkness I was in, and I looked around in my situation.

I felt my legs, stiff as they were, begin to gain the feeling back. I groan, and sat up. Then paused.

I could tell I was somewhere entirely different.

I seemed to be in a warehouse of some sort. Crates and supplies were stacked together, a musty smell remained in the room. Like the garage scent, muffled with something...sulfuric. Something that used to burn.

I flinch as I felt the feeling of ice return to my back, but I could still move. I look around, and see Chaos not far from me, looking around cautiously.

"Cha-cha-cha-cha-chaos?" I managed. Chaos did not look towards me, but gave an acknowledging chirp. I tried again, "Chaos...where are we?"

Chaos did not answer, and I felt he didn't need to when daylight poured in from a door. I ducked behind a crate, feeling numb still, but was able to catch the conversation between two guys.

"Alright, let's get in and out. I don't want to stay here all day," One said, moving towards a crate. I hoped that Chaos had some time to hide. A big purple shadow would make some sort of headline.

"Yeah...say, when the season starts up, who you rootin' for?" Another guy asked.

"Broncos, obviously," Replied the first guy.

"Hah, right. Didn't they win once?"

"Yup. That's why I'm rooting for them."

"I don't know, I got a good feeling about the Cowboys."

A sigh, "You and your Texan team can eat dirt."

They grabbed something as they were conversing, the second guy complaining about how it was his pride to stick with the cowboys.

Okay, I thought to myself, We are in some sort of warehouse in the west area. Either Colorado, or Texas...

I look up to try and find Chaos, and frown as I can't spot him. "Chaos," I whisper, hearing nothing.

Then I felt it again, the ice piercing my back as I was dragged backwards. I screamed out, but a voice behind me spoke clearly, and deeply.

"Unless you want your shadow friend to survive, I suggest you stop screaming, and come with us peacefully, Destiny Writer."
