"Son of Apollo," Blyden drawled. "It's been a while."

He stepped out from the fire, his red hair shimmering. "You've been healing quite nicely," he observed in a conversational tone.

Will tensed, ready to fight, but Blyden only frowned at him. "King Abbadon will not be pleased," he murmured, more to himself than Will. "He will not be pleased at all."

"Why are you here?" Will demanded, shaking with rage. "Why are you doing this?"

The general only smiled, unfazed by his anger. "To get revenge, of course. The king didn't like that you escaped, so he sent us to burn this place down."

Will's heart stopped. "You mean..."

"That it's all your fault?" Blyden crooned. "Why, yes. Yes, it is. And now people will die for your actions."

Will could barely breathe. If he had caused this...

The son of Apollo shook off the thoughts. "If I've learned one thing from all this," he snarled, "it's that demons lie and deceive. You put doubt in our hearts to make us afraid." He squared his shoulders. "I defeated you once. I can overcome you again."

Blyden only shrugged. "Suit yourself."

Suddenly, Will's wrists were bound with manacles. He yelped as a dark chain materialized, anchoring him to the floor.

Chained. He was chained--

Will fought to keep his fear from overwhelming him, from sending him to his knees.

The general stretched forth an armor-clad hand. A slender, viscous dagger appeared in his palm. "The king wants your head." His silver eyes glowed in the light of the flames. "But have no fear, son of Apollo. Your death will be quick."
