Vex

I heard the stories of tremendous anxiety when a wolf's mate isn't near them. The need to know if a soul mate is safe can drive a man insane and every mated wolf I could talk to would agree with me that the safest place for a mate is at their side.

That is where my Raylea should be; with me and finally, I get what I wanted.

Admiral Ladoga could never keep her away from me for long. It was a plan doom to fail for two reasons: she's my mate and I'm a powerful prince.

Correction: a powerful, pissed off prince.

That is the aura I give off while I stand tall, arms crossed over my chest as I glare at the Admiral. The pathetic lycan seems to cower under my vicious gaze while his men behind him appear to be on the verge of shitting their pants.

I can feel my inner wolf grinning in satisfaction, glad that these cowards will remember from now on what will happen if they try to mess with our mate again.

But I don't hold on to my anger towards these guards for long because seconds later, I can hear the fast beating of my mate's hearth. Moments after, I can hear her footsteps along with a few others as she is escorted to me.

I can't stop the small smile forming on my face as I see her enter the loading and unloading zone of the dome with two guards on either side her. Both men are smart enough not to touch her.

Finally

My eyes quickly rake over her body, scanning for any injuries present and I am swept with relief when I find that she is okay. Until I look into her brown eyes.

Raylea stares at me with fearful eyes and the moment see realizes that the guards are no longer holding her back, she bolts in my direction. Not having the capability to run at fast speeds, it seems to me that she is running in slow motion but I patiently wait for her until she reaches me and catches me by surprise.

Raylea throws herself at me, her arms attempting to wrap around my large torso as she hides her face in my chest. I react to her proximity immediately, wrapping my arms securely around her while I let her snuggle into me. The warmth radiating from the sparks almost make me purr.

I would have done just that if it weren't for Admiral Ladoga and his men. They stand a few feet from us. Some of the men are looking anywhere but us while others stare in shock and then there's the Admiral who proves he's not as dumb as I previously thought because his eyes gleam with realization.

He knows what Raylea is to me but I give him another death glare which seems to put him in his place. He stand straighter, averting his gaze from us while keeping him mouth shut.

I sigh in content, glad I can bring my attention back to my mate. I rest my head on her soft hair. "Your safe," I tell her firmly. I'll make sure she never have to be put into this situation ever again. She will live in safety, knowing that she can never be kidnapped and harmed. Not when I'm around and living.

"I know," Raylea mumbles into my chest. She then slightly puts a bit of distance between us so that she can lift her head to see me while my arms are still around her, "but Hunter isn't."

Ah yes, the reason why we are in this mess. I look over to the Admiral and raise an eyebrow.

Admiral and everyone present in this room can hear the two of us talking. They know what's going on. "The Alpha of the Rogues and his younger brother will be kept under my custody until the Royal Knights come to retrieve their new prisoners." Admiral Ladoga states, leaving no room for negotiation.

Not like that will stop my persistent little mate. She turns around in my arms and shouts, "Hunter has done nothing to receive such punishment!" I have to use a tad bit of my strength to restrain her from going over to the Admiral and give him a piece of her mind.
