Emily's POV
...
As I entered the class, Alaska's smile greeted me. I returned her smile and got to my place.
"Why are you extra happy today?" I asked her with a playful smile.
"That's because the date of homecoming dance is going to be announced" she squealed.
I laughed at her excitement.
"So are you going?" I asked.
"Obvio! Who wouldn't in their right mind?" She rolled her eyes.
"I'm not!" I said her. She laughed at me but stopped once she noticed my serious face.
"Are you freaking serious?" Her eyes widened.
I burst out laughing at her reaction. She looked at me confused but smiled at me and punched me playfully.
Our teacher arrived so we stop what we were doing and stood up to greet him.
"Good morning everyone, I was told to inform all of you to go the school auditorium once the bell rings". He said that and started taking attendance.
Today Paige was absent, so Alice sat next to Natasha. I decided not to talk about what happened yesterday to Alice since she would feel bad.
Immediately after Mr. Vincent finished taking the attendance, the bell rang. All of us rushed out the class room, there were hundreds of other students in the corridor so it was hard for us all to get into the auditorium.
Once we were all assembled, our principal started speaking.
"So students, I am sure that you all have been waiting for the homecoming dates to be revealed. So, let's not waste anytime and I'll get straight to the point. It's next week on Friday. So you all have 9 days more to go and I expect this year's homecoming to be organized unlike the last year."
Everyone looked at each other excitedly. A lot of squealing was heard which brought smile even to Mrs. Maria's face. As for me, I was laughing at Alaska's face. She was beyond happy. Daisy on the other hand was grinning like crazy at us.
This excitement bought smile to my face.
Then we were all dispersed. The tickets to the homecoming dance were sold near the cafeteria, so that area was really crowded (I mean REALLY, the scene was almost like in the zombie movies). I entered my first class and noticed that it was almost empty except for the teacher sitting at the desk. I gave her a confused look.
"Did I enter the wrong class?" I asked with doubt.
Mrs. Walker immediately shook her head "No no, you are in the right class but no one has arrived yet, all because of those stupid homecoming tickets." She muttered the last few words.
I just chuckled and sat at my usual place. Only a few girls arrived after some time. Alaska entered the room panting with her eyes wide. I gave her a funny look as she sat beside me.
"Why do you look like you just escaped from a ghost?" I asked laughing a little.
She sighed and shook her head "yes, I did escape but not from a ghost but from a mob of excited teenage girls fighting for pieces of blue paper."
"So did you get it?" I asked her.
She gave me a pout and shook her head.
I sighed and said "it's ok"
I looked straight ahead at the board and tried not to feel bad.
Alaska waved some paper in front of my face and it seemed to be in blue colour. I tried focusing more and a wide smile appeared on my face, I slowly turned to face her and hugged her instantly while squealing.
She laughed at my excitement and told me to calm down. "Did you really think that I was that inexperienced? I am an athlete for god's sake Em! You should know better than that!" She exclaimed dramatically.
I laughed at the Drama Queen and asked her to give me the tickets.
She handed me the tickets, I counted to make sure there were 5 of them.
Soon, everyone returned back to their respective classes but still the excitement didn't die down for the rest of the day.
Everywhere I turned, there were people talking about homecoming. They were all reacting as if it was their senior prom.
"So when are you planning to buy your dress?" Daisy asked me.
I shrugged "no idea".
"Are you excited?" She asked me excitedly.
"A little" I said smiling.
She had a shocked look on her face.
"Just 'a little'?"
I laughed at her reaction.
"Hey! Sit down in your respective places, Mrs. Kale is coming!" Alaska said running back to take her seat.
Mrs. Kale entered the class with a smirk.
Everyone were already confused by her evil smirk, but no one dared to open their mouth.
"So, I think all of you are already deciding on what dress to wear to the homecoming dance?" Well, guess what? I have a surprise for you....." she snickered.
The room erupted into a whispering frenzy.
Daisy leaned towards me and whispered "what did the witch do this time?".
I chuckled at her.
"Silence!" Mrs. Kale yelled.
Everyone stopped what they were doing and focused on what she was going to tell next.
"You can't take dates to the homecoming dance" she smirked even more this time as everyone groaned. But I didn't join the groaning, because I never about cared this kind of a useless thing, bringing or not bringing a date wouldn't make a difference for me.
"But why ma'am?" Samantha exclaimed in frustration.
"Because the teachers decided so, that's why!" Mrs. Kale answered.
Everyone groaned again making me roll my eyes.
"Ms. Angelo! Did you just roll your eyes at me?" She yelled at me.
I was taken by surprise but shook my head, "No Miss k-" I was cut off by her.
"If I find any of this kind of disrespect in my class again, You will find yourself In the detention room! Understand?"
I nodded and kept quiet.
Alaska leaned towards me whispered "wow! Somehow she didn't give you a detention, it may be because we can't take dates to the dance, I mean what could make her more happy?"
I cracked a small smile at her and continued to concentrate on the class.
