It was Monday, the buzz about the anniversary seemed to lessen but everybody kept gushing about how exciting the event was and that the Dupain Chengs actually got Ladybug and Chat Noir to put on a show in the bakery. Like really? They just saved your lives from a real akuma. People must be so used to akumas by now, they treat it like a show or an event EVERY SINGLE DAY. Marinette packed her things and rushed to school because today, the entire class got to go audition for Clara Nightingale's music video "Miraculous." She watched a video this morning about Clara's inspiration was Ladybug and Chat Noir. Now she felt pumped and ready to go. Marinette hurried to school and when she got to her classroom, she found Alya smirking at her when she entered. She walked to her seat and she saw Adrien with his hands folded in front of him, as if he was troubled by something, but when he noticed she was there, he brightened and smiled at her while she blushed and hurried to her seat.
"Girl, you have to give me all the details, how did you end up with Adrien, leaning into him like a romance movie," Alya whispered the last part but it still made her blush nonetheless. Marinette quickly waved it off since Adrien was literally right in front of them. Nino looked back and smirked at Marinette, who was taken aback.
"You were there?!" Marinette tried to whisper and yell but it did not work.
"Well we gave you some privacy after 10 seconds but gurl you need to give me the deets."
"Who still says deets?"
"I do, now spill it gurl."
"Ok So I found Adrien on my balcony and I decided to keep him company and out of nowhere I decided to ask him whether I can lean my head on him or not and he said yes surprisingly and that's exactly how it happened," Marinette said quickly, hoping that Alya didn't get all the details.
"Girl, you do realize even if you talk fast, I still catch every word you're saying right?" Alya crossed her arms and smirked at her, Marinette sighed and turned back towards the board.
"Yeah I know but we get to audition to be extras in Clara Nightingale's new video!" Marinette squealed as Alya high fives her, "well technically, everyone in class."
"You know Marinette, you'd be perfect for Ladybug, don't you think?" Alya remarked making Marinette suddenly panicky.
"What? No! I wouldn't make a good Ladybug, please, I have no idea what you're talking about," Marinette muttered that last part to herself as class was dismissed for the day. As the class filed out, Marinette noticed Adrien was still sitting at his desk deep in thought. Marinette glanced over at the door to make sure that everyone left and then she went over to Adrien's desk.
"Hey Adrien, why are you sitting here alone?" Marinette asked, taking the seat next to him with Adrien giving her a tired smile before turning back towards the board.
"Oh, hey Marinette, I was just thinking to myself about something," Adrien sighed, causing Marinette to have more concern.
"Oh... if you don't mind me asking, what's wrong?"
Adrien looked at her and considering whether to tell her or not, made up his mind. Giving her an awkward smile and he looked to the top right corner of his eyes, as if reliving it, "Well... it started this morning...."
(Flashback) This Morning at the Agreste Residence
"Adrien, I recommended you to play Chat Noir for Clara Nightingale's new music video, you don't really have a choice. This is to expand the markets for my clothing line in China and Japan," Gabriel Agreste said monotonely without even looking at Adrien, who had a horrified look on his face as Nathalie gave him the Chat Noir costume.
