Chapter Extra 2: The Collin's Family

"Welcome to Collinwood" Ma joked when we get out of the taxi. As planned, we came to visit Grandpa and the rest of the family.

"I'm nervous" Mom said

"Don't be. We're all in this together" Ma said "I only wish Barnabas Collins is not home"

"Barnabas Collins? The vampire" Cass asked. She came with us to meet my family.

"Yup, he goes by the name Andrew"

"Andrew?"

"Ma's oldest brother. He's a town councilor. He and his wife and three sons live here with Grandpa"

"Will I meet all of them?"

"Well, you could meet Uncle Andrew's family. Uncle David and his wife and daughter lives in Italy and Uncle Craven's family is a 5 hours ride from here"

"I see"

We waited a month for this visit. The first half of The Paper Smith ended a week ago, by the end of the month; we're going to be busy again for shooting of the second half of the season.

"That's odd" Ma said when there's no one answering the door "It's like no one's home"

"That's why I told you to tell them we're going here"

"I want it to be a surprise"

"Really?" I said. I know ma is worried about this visit.

"Someone's coming" Ma said as she heard footsteps

It was Uncle Andrew who opened the door "Darlyn?" he called, surprised.

"Barnabas Collins is home." ma said and smiled "Surprise!"

"Why are you here?" Uncle Andrew asked

"I once live here" Ma answered "Would you let us in?" ma said as she barge in

"Hey Uncle Andrew" I greeted "Sorry for not giving notice that we're visiting"

"Where's everyone? Where's dad?"

Uncle Andrew sighed

I looked at ma's worried face again. Uncle Andrew told us that Grandpa had a stroke and is in the hospital right now.

"Are we there already?" Ma asked again

"We'll be there alright." Uncle Andrew said while driving.

A few minutes, Uncle Andrew stopped the car. Ma runs inside the hospital as we followed her.

"Dad!" ma called as she opens the door to where grandpa stays

"Darlyn" Uncle Charlie said, surprised to see us there.

"How's dad?" Ma said as she walks towards grandpa

"He's fine already. He needs rest"

"Why didn't you tell me about his conditions?"

Uncle Charlie and Uncle Andrew looked at each other

"This is not the first time isn't it?"

"Darlyn, dad's already old. It's natural for him to have these strokes" uncle Andrew said

"But it's not a reason for you to keep this to me"

"Darlyn, calm down" Uncle Charlie said "It's dad decision not to tell you"

"What?!"

"He doesn't want to cause you more pain. He loves you the most that he can feel your pain when your world turns upside down and that's why he doesn't want you to know" Uncle Charlie explains
