"You're pretty knowledgeable for a first year, aren't you?" Chi Shili sat up and lifted an eyebrow at Canren.
"I may have gone to school already... once or twice." Canren reluctantly admitted.
"That remind me... I don't know your species." Chi Shili narrowed her eyes at Canren and looked her up and down, as if she was going to find it printed on her skin somewhere. "Youthfulness and illusions..." She stared hard at Canren's torso. "I'd guess elfin, but your body almost seems like it's covered in a fog... It's hard to see... almost like..." Her eyes trailed to Canren's feet. She gasped and jumped backwards. She stared with large eyes at Canren.
Canren smiled helplessly and rubbed the back of her head, "Yeah... I'm real. Sorry, I thought you knew."
"My-My eyes were hurt... But- They're only legends... I mean, you can't be..." She looked at Canren's downcast face and forced herself to settle down. "I-I'm sorry i just didn't expect..." She cleared her throat, "You aren't gonna..."
"I swear on my honor(and pride)as a magical, I mean you no harm." She raised her hand.
Chi Shili finally calmed down.
I glanced at Xin Ai, What was that about?
He gave me a tight-lipped smile.
"A Shili is a magical gifted with 'sight'." Canren explained, "They see truth." She glances at Shili, "Though they don't really like being called that way. She saw that I'm..." She turned her face away again, "Well, let's just saw that out of all magicals I am of the most feared."
"You've never told me this before."
She giggled, "Do you remember what you called me when you claimed you'd 'figured out' what I was?" She looked at me with her sweet, tender-loving gaze. The kind reserved for mothers as they look at their beloved children.
"Vampire."
She giggled again, "Yes, you thought I was a vampire. To humans, Vampires are generally harmless. Compared to how I'm regularly seen, as an apparition or harbinger of death, I just couldn't bring myself to tell you otherwise." Her face scrunched up and she shrugged her shoulders, a sadness filling her expression, "I just couldn't bring myself to break that illusion you had of me. It was so..."
"I see." had her obsession with calling me 'cute' started here? "Canren?" I tried to hide the anger in my voice but I knew it was seeping free. "Jotto kinasai." Knowing she would follow me because she knew when I used Japanese I was either about to break down or get mad, I left the room without looking back. I waited until the door was shut, whacked her over the head, then turned around and went straight back inside. I closed the door behind me because I knew she wasn't going to be getting up anytime soon.
Sit there in pain, the world spinning, while you think about what you did wrong. I'll let you back in... at some point.
I returned to the couch as if nothing happened. "What does your Calaver do?"
Chi Shili recovered quickly, "Well... On the outside, it's for helping the treatment of ferals, but I'm looking for other Magicals. Don't you guys have the same intentions?"
