Ben's P.O.V.
Evalina grasped my hand as we came to the first crosswalk. I noticed a faint blush on her cheek making me smile even more than I already was. She continued to look down at the street as we walked. I looked down and caught a glance at her shoes, realizing what they said. "Nice shoes. They make a big statement." I said while laughing. "You know, my friend Ana, the one you met the other night, she picked these out. She said they reflect my personality." Evalina replied chuckling at the irony. "So E... what's your favorite type of music?" I asked curiously. Truth be told I didn't know that much about Evalina. I mean, I know who her family is, that they aren't the best family. I know about three of her friends, that she has an obsession with Sourpatch kids, she looks at the floor when she's nervous or embarrassed, and that she loves the Newsies like family.
That may sound like a lot but I don't know her preferences or like silly old memories and since we're spending the whole day together I figured I could learn some more about her. Evalina tapped her chin while thinking. "Well, I'd have to say 90's rock a little, hip hop, and showtunes." Evalina replied. "Yeah. That's usually what I listen to when I'm working but mainly showtunes. Any cast album I'm almost positive I have. I'm pretty sure it's a bad obsession I have but what can I say, when we like something we like it. " She said. "Sorry for rambling." "You weren't rambling, even if or when you do? did? we'll go with do, even when you do it's cute. And don't worry I also have an obsession with showtunes." I replied smiling brightly.
Evalina blushed slightly then smiled up at me. "So, Ben. Where'd you grow up? And how did you get into theater?" "I'll tell you when we get inside." I said winking. "We're already here." She looked up and saw the cafe called Sam's. It was a cute cafe/breakfast place thingy when I was out with Josh and Dan yesterday. "Let's go in." I said while smiling.
We went in and looked at the menu. Evalina ordered Belgium waffles and a juice. I decided to get some pancakes and an iced coffee. Just as the cashier? barista? was giving us our price Evalina pulled out some money before I got to pay. She smirked at me. "I always win." "Sure, I'll win next time." I replied. The barista smiled at us "You two are such cute couple." She said winking at us. Immediately I knew we were blushing. Before Evalina could say anything I replied. "Thanks, have a nice one." Then grabbed her hand and walked to a booth by the window.
Evalina simply laughed at my red face. "Anyways, back to my question. Where'd you grow up and how did you get into theater." "I was born in Eden, North Carolina. I grew up in Lorton, Virginia and New York City. I got into dancing when I was eight or nine. My teacher told me to get a manager or an agent and it kind of blossomed from there. Then I got into Billy Elliot and it was just amazing. I had to have a dialect coach so I could sing and talk with a British accent. It was crazy fun." " I've never had a dialect coach but I did have an Italian accent. Eventually I learned an American accent and just stuck with it. I have a friend who's a dialect coach and so she taught me how to do so many accents. We'd always prank some kid a from our school or her job or some of her good friends and dress differently. They're faces would be been hilarious." She said smiling brightly.
"Nice. So, you told me how you gotten into photography and theater. So tell me about your.... fondest memory or memories." I asked. "Only if you do the same. I don't like talking about myself so much it's.... weird to me." She said crinkling her nose. "So I'd say my fondest memory or one of them was when I came here. You remember when my Uncle convinced you guys to hang out with me?" "Well actually we invited you but continue." I replied with a chuckle. "Well, I was so nervous because mind you I haven't really had that many good experiences with my family and the fact that I'd be traveling with you crazies who I barely knew for god knows how long I was freaked out. The funniest things were going through my mind Jeff said it was silly but I told him that this was kidnapping. I ended up enjoying it and getting to know you all better. I also found it funny how you all got along. I mean I felt a little out of place because you guys had rehearsals to meet everyone. I came in late mind you so I figured it would be hard and I was so used to my friends stepping in and out of my life that I guess I was scared. I had been betrayed before many times and people had tried to become friends with me because of who my parents were and they wanted expensive gifts and such so I was worried. But you guys were so accepting, and sweet, and funny, and slightly deranged. So I guess in a way you're all my family. I went from being an orphan in a sense like I was in my own world then you guys no matter how many time I told you to stay out came in but I'm glad for it. You're all family now." She said with a smile.
"Awww." "Don't tell the others. I'd hurt myself if they knew." She said shuddering slightly at the thought of all the Toursies being aware of how she actually felt since Evalina usually showed an indifferent mood around them. "But they'd be so happy." I said smiling at her. "Yeah they would but then they'd act differently and I like our current dynamic. Just as that happened the waiter came and sat down our food. Evalina smiled took a deep breath in. "I hope you enjoy." The waitress said. "Thank you." We said in unison." "Oh and here's my number." She said winking at me. I nodded my head, planning on throwing away the paper.
The waitress walked away. Evalina looked confused. "Guess she wanted to make a new friend." I laughed at her naive and obliviousness. "We can go with that." I said with a smile. We continued eating. "So tell me, fondest memory or just a fond one." Evalina said while pointing her fork at me. "First day of rehearsals when we got to meet everyone. I instantly connected with Josh and Sky. It was so fun getting to know everyone and their quirks. It was fun too because we all started learning the songs and getting to hear everyone's twist on their characters. It was like they added a bit of them into the characters. It was so genuine and fun. Plus everyone here is from all over the U.S. or even the world so it's pretty cool to hear about their stories and experiences. "
"Yeah. It's always fun when you meet new people. Well, if you're social that is." She said with a chuckle. "So, Ben what musical that inspired you?" "Spring Awakening. How about you?" "Well I guess the first one I saw, which was Cats." "My turn, favorite Schmackery's cookie? Mine's either an original or funfetti." "Well, I'd say macadamia nut. They're good. Or double chocolate. Umm, favorite Disney movie?" "Too hard, all of them." "Same here." "What do you enjoy most about your job?"I asked. We began finishing up our meals.
"I love getting to meet people or seeing places and being able to capture things to share with the world. It's like the gift that keeps on giving. Being able to marvel at something from afar. You're not there but you can still see the beauty. It's sharing the worlds gifts with other people but almost anonymously. That's why I do it. Not for the recognition but to share the worlds beauty." Evalina replied. I smiled at how passionate she was about photography. She kind of reminds me of my dad but in a good way. Evalina's so endearing without even realizing it.
"That's amazing. I guess it's the same for me too. I love sharing music with the world but it's like being apart of something bigger. I also love seeing the joy it brings to the fans. Just having the live audience there gives us so much energy it's honestly amazing. I couldn't picture myself doing anything other than this for the rest of my life. It's a true gift." Evalina smiled as she sat took a sip of her tea. "You're very passionate about what you do, it's... charming, in it's own way." She said. I felt a blush rise to my cheeks.
We continued to talk as we finished up our drinks. We decided to leave a tip for the waitress, even though I argued against it, Evalina still placed a ten down. "So where are we going next?" She asked as we exited the quaint cafe. "It's a surprise." I said while grabbing her hand and starting to run. "What does tha- Ben slow down!" She shouted behind me. I simply laughed and continued running in the direction of our next destination.
To be continued.
Hello, hello, hello lovely Fansies/Reader/Spectators. I am so sorry for not updating yesterday. I had band practice for a good amount of the day then during the night I had to conduct for a parade so I was super busy and couldn't write a chapter. I hope this suffices and you all enjoy it. This is probably going to be a four part chapter but it might not yet. I'm not sure. All the love
