3rd Person P.O.V.
Eventually Ben and Evalina returned to the sub shop to return the basket. Afterwards they decided to go back to the hotel. All of a sudden Evalina's phone started ringing. "Excuse me. I, I need to answer this." Evalina replied. She took a step away from Ben to answer the phone call.
"Hey, Sean. How's it gong?" "Better than expected. We're just getting ready to pack up, no one suspects a thing and this clue to watch the live stream helped a lot more. Only thing is, you can't be spotted with any of the Newsies from now until tomorrow. Everything will have to blow over first. I know that sounds weird but everyone is trying to spot girls that are hanging around the Newsies and since you literally live with them in a sense you're definitely going to be suspected." "What?!?!" Evalina asked exasperated. "What you can do is you can come stay with Me and Nat for the next day and a half until this all blows over. Trust me though. These fans-" "Fansies" "fansies, whatever they're called, kept saying they'd try to see what the Newsies were doing and you know their fans are everywhere. Plus with instagram and other social medias it's too risky."
Evalina sighed thinking over her decisions. "Fine. I'll do it, but the Newsies will question it." "Just tell them that your friend is super sick or just vanish and tell your uncle." "Alright, thanks. I'm out and about right and with a Newsie so I better get to the hotel as fast as I can without being spotted." Evalina replied. She felt bad, no she felt worse than bad she felt terrible, for having to leave Ben with no explanation. "Alright, see ya in a few Evie." Sean hung up on her.
"Hey, Ben. I'm afraid we've got to cut the rest of the day short I, I have somewhere really important to be." Evalina replied. Ben was still confused. Assuming she meant she just had work to do in her hotel he nodded. "Of course, it's fine." Ben said, slightly downcast but understanding of the situation. Or so he thought that is. Instead of them walking at the same pace Evalina walked faster than Ben constantly looking behind her back. Instead of taking an easy route to the hotel she took a secluded and long path in order for them not to be spotted. "Evalina are you... okay?" Ben asked as they were walking noticing how jittery she was getting.
"Um, me? Yeah, I'm fine. Just a little rushed I suppose." She stated while continuing to dart her eyes back and forth. "Are you sure you're rushed because it's seems like we're taking a long route to get to the hotel." Ben replied. He was starting to catch on that something was up. "Heh, um, I just really like the quiet." She replied nervously, not daring to look Ben in the eye. "Oh, hey look! It's the hotel." She replied as we saw the hotel just a few buildings down. She walked in a hurried manner to the hotel with Ben following close behind. Eventually they made it to their floor.
Right before she entered her room she paused. "I'm sorry I had to cut our day short. I.... I had a lot of fun Ben. I, I'll see you around." She said quickly with a blush adorning her cheeks. Ben couldn't help but smile at her cold but warm, blunt yet elongated thank you. "No problem I had fun too. I'll see you later." Ben replied. One thing he couldn't get off his mind was the fact that instead of saying later she said see you around. "Maybe I'm just thinking too hard on it." Ben mumbled to himself as he entered his room. Josh wasn't there so he assumed he went out with the other. Ben decided to watch a movie. As he did so he drifted off into sleep, his thoughts all jumbled. One thing he didn't realize... was that Evalina was still wearing his hat.
Meanwhile in Evalina's room she was on the phone with her uncle. "Hey, Uncle Jeff. I'm sorry for such a late notice but something came up. I have to go out of this town." "Why? What happened?" "I accidentally dragged the Newsies into the thing . And me being around them is a little dangerous since I'm leading them right to me so I have to be away from them. I know it sounds weird but after my latest clue they're going to be following the Newsies around and eyeing them like hawks and that catch me, someone who isn't in the show, hanging around them so much they're bound to find something out. Plus they don't know I'm the photographer yet so..." "Alright, you can go. I know you have some friends close by but be safe. How long are you going to be gone?" "About a day or two. I'll be back soon though, a day or two before we leave again probably." I said. "Be safe. Love you." "Love you too, Uncle. See you later."
Evalina grabbed her backpack that she usually brought with her on the bus and filled it with enough clothes for then next two to three days not knowing for sure how long she'd stay. She grabbed her ipad and other necessities. Afterward she set her stuff up neatly beside the bed. I looked like she still inhabited the room. Evalina chuckled and began walking out of the hotel not before getting a couple of prints and sliding them under Uncle Jeff's hotel room door. They had a devised a plan to hide the next clue in the Newsies dressing rooms so that during the live they could read it out loud. Now that Evalina wouldn't be there Mr. Calhoun or Jeff Senior would be taking care of it.
As Evalina made her way to the elevator she heard someone call her name. She froze in place. It was Sky. "Heyyyyy, Sky. Where are you, where are you headed?" She asked him nervously. "I figured I'd be asking you the same question." Sky said sassily. Yeah, it has been confirmed he is the living breathing male version of Angelica Schuyler. "Heh, I was just headed out to get some work done, take some photos, get some.... coffee?" She said unsure. "Mind if I join?" Sky asked smirking. "A-actually, this is field work, I really have to do it alone" just as she said that the elevator dinged open she rushed inside. "I would love the company but I work best alone. I would love to hang out later bye." She said as Sky began walking towards the elevator to see what she was hiding or to figure it out.
Evalina let out a sigh as the doors shut. "Phew, that, that was a really close one" She leaned against the wall. Nothing could go wrong now, right? That's where you're wrong. As Evalina was exiting the elevator in the lobby she saw Nico, Chaz, Jeff, Josh, and DeMarius talking with Sky. Uh oh. "Yeah, she was acting really weird and she had her backpack with her." Evalina clasped something in her hand tighter. She didn't realize she was holding something. It was Ben's hat! She hadn't even realized she accidentally stole it. "Well I mean if she said she was going to work then she was probably going to go do some work." Nico tried reasoning. "Yeah, he's right." Chaz agreed. "But doesn't it seem just a little suspicious that she's going to work on our day off with a big backpack, her laptop, camera, and she was in a rush." Sky tried reasoning. "I have to agree with Sky on this one. Evalina acts weird, sure, but never this weird. " That was her cue to leave. Evalina worked up a sprint and bolted out of the building.
She called an uber. "Where do you need me to take you?" "Lyme please. The address is xxx on xxx lane." Evalina said to the driver. "That's an hour and twenty minutes away. Perfect amount of time to get to know each other." She said smiling. "I'm Cassandra." "I'm Evalina." "So tell me, Lina. Yup, that''s your nickname. Are you okay with that?" "Yeah." "So to tell me, Lina, what's your story."
"Well, let's start with where I was born."
