My eyes lingered on the grand entrance of the Great Hall where Malfoy and Skyler had stood moments before. I sighed loudly; whatever he wished to speak to her about could not, in any language, be good. I was contemplating interrupting their conversation when Harry Potter sat down next to me, his face enveloped in a grim expression, wiping all aspects of that idea from my mind.

“I guess I’m not the only one that is in bad spirits today, despite the weather outside.”

Harry’s lips formed a weak smile. “Does yours have anything to do with Snape and double detention?”

“Close, but no. It’s his sidekick- Malfoy.” I said grinning.

Harry’s smile widened and his eyes became bright. “So are you trying out for the new quidditch team next week?”

I tilted my head, considering the question for a moment, before shaking it. “I don’t think so; I have too much studying to do in preparation for the ‘NEWT’S’. Speaking of which, I need to go to the library to do some research on potions. I’ll speak to you later; Bye Harry”

“You’re like Hermione,” Harry said whilst laughing “always studying or revising. But I won’t keep you. See you around Alexis.”

I hastily hurried out of the hall and in the direction of the library when I heard an angry shout echo from the second floor, immediately causing me to come to a sudden halt. It sounded very similar to Skyler. Questions began to race through my mind. What if something has happened to her? Is she hurt?

My mind had decided my body’s intentions within a matter of seconds. Skyler was my best friend; I had no other choice than to help her! But no sooner had I raised my leg, preparing to lower it to the ground, when a loud bang swept through the corridor and I was suddenly lying against cold, hard marble, my body aching in agony. A cackling, high pitched laughter rang throughout my ears.

“Parkinson!” I growled.

“Obviously.” I heard her sneer. “Who else could perform such a complicated spell so well?”

As I rose from the ground and turned slowly to face her smug- looking face, I let out a snort of laughter. “Complicated spell? We learnt that in our second year. Ah, but I forget, you find it hard to concentrate on anything but yourself and your petty desires.”

Her nose flared in rage and she raised her wand whilst bellowing “Crui-.”

I swept my wand out in one singular motion and yelled “Stupefy!”

My spell reached her before she had the time to complete hers and she fell back, her eyes wide in shock. I turned, preparing to take flight up the main staircase when I saw Draco Malfoy, leaning against the banister of the staircase, smirking. My eyes narrowed as he spoke.

“Well, well, well Gilbert. I’d say this is 50 points from Gryffindor and you might as well share potters double detention.”

I dismissed his comment, figuring I would worry about it later when I didn’t have more serious matters engulfing my mind.

“Where’s Skyler?” I demanded.

At the mention of her name, Malfoy’s eyes, flashed furiously. “I do not know where ‘she’ is. She may have mentioned something about waiting for you outside the Gryffindor common room.”

I rushed past him, brushing against his shoulder, and bounded up the staircase, desperate to know what had happened when Malfoy had requested to talk with Skyler. Hoping that whatever it was, Skyler would be indeed waiting for me outside the Gryffindor common room. Reaching the second floor, I glanced back down to see Malfoy cradling his head in his hands. Something was not right lately; it was as if he was under deep pressure.

An order to fulfil. And it was a serious one.
