Okay, let's get serious here. I'm a normal teenage girl, living my normal teenage life with normal parents, normal friends, normal studies, etc., etc., etc. Basically, I fall into the sections of normality. Hi, I'm Lydia Winters, and since normal means boring too, I thought maybe narrating my life to you wouldn't bore me out. Now, I literally hate today. You know what's today? It's a freaking Monday! I need to get to my school, fast!
"Lydia! You got the idea of skipping school today in your head?!" cried my mother from downstairs. "Mom, I'm coming down for heaven's sakes!" I cried back. Gosh, Mom is going to one day drive me crazy! "Hey Mom, where's Dad? He's supposed to drop me to school." I asked as I looked to find my father. My Dad, was a very mysterious person. I hardly knew anything about him except that his favorite color is black, his study room is black, he works for a classified group of people; doing god knows what, and he likes to be alone most of the times. But I still loved him. After all, he is my dad! But I was very close to my Mom because she was the exact opposite of Dad.
"Honey, I don't think your Dad would be able to drop you today. He left for work earlier this morning." replied Mom. I sighed in disappointment. I looked at my wristwatch to see that it was 7:00am and looked back at my mom who was too busy calling someone. I took a deep breath and whispered to her, "I'll walk to school." She nodded with agreement and waved her hand as she responded to the person on the other line. I walked out of my house to feel a fresh morning breeze on my bare face. Huh, so my morning's going to be like this again.
Yeah, my Dad usually never has time for me. Whenever we plan to do something together, something always comes in the way. I remember when Dad and I had plans to go out for fishing last weekend. We were so eager for the weekends to arrive. But when it did, my Dad left for work and came back on Sunday night. I was so upset and frustrated but my Mom always explained to me that I should never have hard feelings for Dad. 'Cause whatever he does, he does it for us. For me. Every night, Dad promises to drop me off to school and every morning, he disappears like a genie; a genie who forgets the promises he made to his daughter. Anyway, here I am, on my way to school by foot. I study at Albany High School and I love being in that school. My classes are so fun and interesting, my teachers are kind and approachable and I have dozens of friends who I can trust and hang out with. But my best friends, Willow and Danielle, they're like family to me. Whenever my Dad dumps me for his work, I hang out with them and forget all about my worries.
"Lydia, are you listening to me?!" I startled. I looked around my surroundings to find myself.....in class?! When the hell did I reach my class?! Man, it looks like I got so lost into describing my life to you, I guess I forgot whatever was happening now. "Miss Winters, to make sure that you were paying attention to my class, I'm going to ask you a question." claimed Mrs. Mcclain. I frowned. Great, I'm going to be so in trouble if I don't answer the question. "What is the meaning of the word, 'supercalifragilisticexpialidocious'?" she asked. I frowned harder...
'C'mon, you know the meaning.....think, think, THINK!!' I thought to myself but I had no clue of what this supercali-blablablabla meant.
"Lydia, do you know the answer or not?" asked Mrs. Mcclain as she narrowed her eyes and stared at me. I gulped in terror. There is no way I'm getting detention on a Monday!
"Lydia, the class is waiting...."
"I...uh..."
"Excuse me?" a voice said. I turned my head to the entry door of the classroom to find a stranger standing there. I immediately widened my eyes and dropped my jaw wide open.
"Oh my gosh....he's so...he..." I wondered but I didn't finish my thoughts. 'Cause by the time Mrs. Mcclain let that ridiculously handsome boy in, she put me in detention for not listening attentively.
"Why don't you introduce yourself to the class?" asked Mrs. Mcclain to the boy.
"I'm Ryan." he said with a stern look.
"Anything else you'd like to say?" Mrs. Mcclain looked at him with comforting eyes but he just gave back a stern look.
"No, may I take a seat?" he said.
Mrs. Mcclain was rather disappointed by his behavior but she let him choose his seat anyway. I usually sat at the front alone and since there were less students in English class, the back benches were always empty. The boy, who I now know is Ryan, chose to sit in one of the back benches with Noah. Noah was my childhood bully. We went to the same elementary school and he always had a problem with whatever I do. But I used to ignore him so my childhood went great.
Ok, I'm gonna be honest here. I really did wish for Ryan to sit beside me, considering the seat beside me to be empty but well, it's his choice so, uh, whatever.
Finally, after so many classes of English, Science, Maths and Economics, it was time to go home! Wait, I think I'm forgetting something....oh right, I have detention.
Ugh, Mom's going to kill me!
I entered my English class to find Mrs. Mcclain sitting in front of the teacher's desk with a huge stack of papers. She raised her head to find me enter the class and put her red pen down. "Ah, Miss Winters, you're here..." she said eagerly. "Where's Noah and the new kid?" Mrs. Mcclain asked. I raised my eyebrow when I heard 'the new kid'. Noah was basically a bully and like the most talkative boy in the school so he practically was given detention more than anyone in the entire school, that's why I wasn't really suprised when Mrs. Mcclain asked about him. What I was surprised about was Ryan being here in detention on the first day itself? What exactly did he do? Please tell me Noah didn't drag him into doing something wrong....
"Uh, I have no idea, Mrs. Mcclain..." I replied nervously.
Mrs. Mcclain nodded silently and resumed back to her work. I suppose she's correcting some grade's test papers. I sat on one of the benches in the class and got my books out. I was in detention. And this is the perfect time to finish all my homework so that I can hang out with Willow and Danielle, who really aren't in any of my classes. I usually meet them at lunch and after school. I started doing my economics worksheets when I heard a knock on the class window. I turned to find Noah holding a signboard saying 'HELP! Meet me in soccer field'. I frowned. Noah, the biggest prankster and bully I've ever met, was asking help from me?! Yeah, something was wrong and I intended to find out. But how? Mrs. Mcclain is sitting in the class and.....hmm, and isn't paying attention to me.
I took a deep breath and walked up to Mrs. Mcclain's desk.
"Um, Mrs. Mcclain?" I asked.
"Yes, Lydia?"
"May I use the restroom?"
"Of course, just don't be late."
"Okay,"
"Oh, and if you find Noah and Ryan in the way, tell them to come here for detention. I don't have all day."
"Right, I'll make sure."
I immediately scurried out of the room and outside the school to the soccer field to find Noah standing there with a mischiveous smile. "What do you want, Noah?" I asked angrily.
"I need your help." he said with the same mischiveous smile.
"In what?"
"I need you to-" he started to walk closer to me. But trust me, I didn't even move an inch. I stood there all proud and brave to see what he's up to.
"I need you to help me escape detention." he finished. I groaned in frustration. Seriously, does he have no shame from asking help from the girl he always bullied?
"I thought you were already onto that job?" I asked with my arms folded.
"Actually no, I was smoking over there and-"
"Gosh, you smoke?!" I shrieked.
"Yes, I'm a bad boy, aren't I supposed to smoke?"
"I don't know why I agreed to get out of detention to see what help you needed...."
"Please..."
"Actually, the detention is already over so, uh, bye!" I cried and ran back inside the school building to get my belongings. While I was doing so, Noah took out his phone and mumbled, "Start your engine and follow her. You'll get to her address."
