"How do I look?" I asked as I looked at myself again and again in the mirror.

"You look fine, darling." stated Mom simply. I frowned.

"I look fine? Just fine? Mom, I can't go on a date looking fine!"

"Lydia darling, obviously you're exaggerating this whole date thing. You should be glad that I and your dad are even letting you go. Your leg just recovered, you escaped from a mid-street attack yesterday, luckily your man was there to save you and Willow. Looking fine should do on this date." Mom said with her hands on her hips, same old mother gesture.

"Alright fine, I guess I can go looking fine." I looked at myself once more in the mirror. I was wearing a strapless blue silky dress that went a bit above my knees. I must say, wearing dresses without a plaster looked and felt much better. My mom lended me her necklace with a big ball of crystal hanging from the long chain. My hair was pulled up into a bun with a few strands pulled out messily and Mom highly suggested to not wear makeup except for some red lipstick.

I smiled. I'm going on a date. I'm going on a date with the boy I liked. This might be the best moment happening to me during these bewildering times. A loud horn blew outside and my Mom smiled brightly.

"He's here. And my goodness, is he that handsome?" She exclaimed while staring out from my window. "Mom...." I whined, I didn't need a mirror to see how fiercely I was blushing.

"Bye Darling! Have fun at your date! Don't get drunk, don't go anywhere else and don't do something I wouldn't at 17!" shouted Mom as she waved me from the mansion's doorstep.

"MOM!" I shouted back as I rushed into the black car to find a laughing raven haired boy in a decent black suit with a red tie.

"Shut up Ryan." I punched him at the arm.

"Don't do something I wouldn't at 17!" He mimicked Mom as he had a fit of laughter.

"Mom...one minute she's this sophisticated and graceful woman and the next, she's one immature weird teenager." I complained as I checked if all the pins that were holding up my bun were staying put.

"You should really invite me to your house sometimes, I think it'll be great to have a nice chat with her." Ryan suggested as he stroked his sexy midnight hair. I smiled genuinely when I heard him mutter something.

"What was that?" I asked.

"Don't do something I wouldn't at 17!" He mimicked Mom's words again and I slapped him hard on his shoulder. He kept on laughing as I smiled at his cute dimples. Ugh, why is he so perfect?

"Ryan, it's already 8:10! We're going to be late if you don't get this engine started." I grumbled.

"As you wish, your highness." He said after recovering from his laugh and turned the key. In a few seconds, we were on the road heading out for our date.

"Where exactly are we going?" I asked.

"We're going to the diner I used to go with my mother." He replied with a smile. Although he was smiling, I could see the hint of sadness in his eyes. He must really miss his mother. I decided changing the topic immediately, not wanting Ryan to become upset again.

"Did you like Willow?"

"Hmm, Willow?" Ryan asked with innocence.

"Uh, my best friend? You met her yesterday-"

"Oh yeah, now I remember her...hmm, she seemed good. Very bold and annoying for my liking."

I giggled at Ryan's comment. He'll soon learn to like her, Mom said that she's too demanding, but now Willow's literally her second daughter.
