It was 4pm in the evening and I was still trembling about the mysterious message encarved on one of my parents' bedroom walls. I didn't know what to do. I tried to call Mom but surprisingly, there was no signal. I tried to calm down by watching some T.V but my thoughts kept on distracting me. I thought maybe a walk would help me but, what if I get kidnapped or something while doing so? So I decided to stay at home until Mom and Dad came back.

Right now, I was reading a historical novel about two mafia gangs in the early 19th century who were destined enemies. One was The Black Viceroys and the other was The Golden Lords. You know what's the most intriguing part of the story? A boy who belonged to the Black Viceroys and a girl who belonged to the Golden Lords, fell deeply in love and tried settling down the enemity between the two gangs to find peace and love. But once the leaders of the gangs came to know of this, they set the two up in a way where the other thinks that they've been betrayed. They ended up killing each other and the enemity between the gangs continued on.

The story's almost like Romeo and Juliet, but just a little different. Now that I finished reading the novel, I wonder if this story is real or not. I mean, the way the author ended the story...

'The leaders vowed to take revenge on the other for the death of their gang member. Till date, the taken vow has never been broken.....The End.'

It just builds up so many questions in my mind. Also, I feel bad for the boy and girl who didn't trust their love and died believeing what their leaders told them. If I were at their position, I would've never done that. I would've tried to work things out with him and see what went wrong. I would never accuse my love for something he never did....

I looked at my phone longingly. I wanted to call Mom. I wanted to know what's going on. I wanted to embrace myself in her comfortable and soothing arms. I wanted her to tell me that everything's going to be alright and that no one's stalking me. But she wasn't here. It was just 6:00pm. She said she would be back before midnight. Should I do something about this? Maybe not... Mom always told me, since I was a little girl, to never question anything about my Dad's hobbies and job. I still remember when we had to celebrate Father's Day at school and Dad never used to show up. Noah always bullied me for not knowing my Dad and even spread rumor all over the school saying that I was an adopted child since I wasn't close to my Dad. It always felt horrible....it still does.

Suddenly, I heard a slight knock on the front door. I looked up and stared at the door. My chest was going up and down. I was breathing heavily. I became terrified. The sky was going to be dark soon, I had someone stalking me, Mom and Dad weren't at home and there was some stranger knocking at my door. I don't know what to do. Should I open the door or should I wait for the person to just go away? The knock kept on sounding. I just sat there quietly on my living room's couch as I waited with my fingers crossed for the person to give up and leave me alone.

After a few more knocks, I gave up and walked up to the door. I took a deep breath and called out, "Who's there?"

"Hey, is this Lydia Winters' house?" asked a voice from outside. I stood quiet and tried to analyze the voice. It was a boy. I cleared my throat and answered,

"Yes, but who are you and what do you want?"

"I'm Ryan Moore and I needed to return Lydia's notebook that she left in the English class."

I startled. Ryan Moore? Wasn't he the new boy at school? Oh my gosh, where did my manners run off?!

I quickly unlocked the door and found him standing there on my doorstep. His midnight hair was shabby in an amazing way, he was giving out a cute shy smile while carrying a notebook in his hand. His dark brown eyes were absolutely magnificent. I could actually get lost into them but then I realized that I was actually....staring at him. Gosh, he must be feeling so embarrassed and all.

I cleared my throat and began, "Hi Ryan, come in."

"Actually, I just came here to hand over your notebook."

"Come on, I won't waste much of your time, I promise." Ryan smiled with his eyes sparkling. I gestured him to sit in my living room. He gently sat on the couch and kept my notebook on the coffee table.

"So, how come you have my notebook?"

"I kind of went to detention and Mrs. McClain told me to drop off this to your house."

"Now that reminds me, why were you at detention?" I asked curiously.

Ryan scratched the back of his head and smiled nervously. I saw him tapping his feet continuously on the carpet floor like a rhythm and his shoulder rose. I got worried. Before things got worse, I immediately said, "Uh, you know what, don't answer that. I don't want to know..."

Ryan looked at me with surprised eyes and laughed embarrassingly. There was a moment of silence as we said nothing to each other until he spoke.

"Uh, Lydia?"

"Yes?"

"I know you want to know but, uh... I'd rather tell you later on than now."

I gave a warm smile. "Hey, don't worry. I'm totally okay with it."

He gave out a warm smile too and looked at his wristwatch.

"Oh gosh, I need to go." he said as he stood up. "Oh okay then, let me see you out the door." I said as I opened the door for him and saw him walk out. He turned and smiled at me again.

"Thanks Lydia." he said.

"Haha, I really don't know why you just thanked me but, I'm just going to accept it anyway." I replied. Ryan smirked and walked away. I just watched him walk off and looked at the time, it was 6:30pm. I was worried about Mom and Dad, but before I resumed back to my worries, I took a last look at Ryan and whispered to myself, "Ryan Moore."
