"This is...what again?" I asked as I pointed towards the pile of hard-covered books lying in front of me.
"Code Language. There are many signs, gestures and key words that we use while on missions and non-safe areas. Literally shorthand for communicating." replied Mason.
"So, there are 5 books...5 BOOKS....about Code language?!" I shrieked.
"Don't worry hon, I freaked out too...this asshole right here didn't give a shit even back then." said Eliza as she patted on my shoulder, trying to comfort me. Mason gave a dead stare towards Eliza but rolled his eyes as if to say, 'you know what, don't even bother...'
"When did you guys learn this?" I asked curiously. "3 years ago...I was 19 and this asshole was 15." replied Eliza.
"You would love to know that my name isn't 'asshole'...and why on earth are you even here?" commented Mason.
"Uh, Boss put BOTH of us in charge of Miss Lydia, HELLO?"
"Yeah, and clearly, he did a huge mistake doing that. You're the most useless person I've ever met, always drinking around and pissing me off."
"Whoa, whoa, back that shit up....who are you calling 'useless'? I've gone to many more missions than you kiddo!"
"Quality matters, not quantity. You can go to as many missions as you want, but did you forget that they were all failures? I may have gone to only 4 missions in these 3 years, but they were brilliantly successful!"
"Brilliantly successful my ass! You went with a team whereas I was totes solo!"
"The team only had two members including me! It still doesn't change the fact that I'm much more efficient than you!"
"OHH kiddo, you're starting to piss me off..."
"Good; another mission successful."
"You fuc-"
"OKAY ALRIGHT LET'S STOP THIS RIGHT NOW!" I interrupted in a loud assertive voice. God, finally, I managed to barge in and cut down this petty argument. These people are freaking crazy!
"Ahem, very well, putting all that aside, Miss Lydia, you are supposed to read this book," Mason lifted the top book off the pile and placed it in front of me, "and by tomorrow, I'll be asking you questions regarding what you learnt."
I stared at him. "I'm sorry, what? This book, a book that's got over 100 pages; you expect me to read THIS book within a day and answer your questions tomorrow?"
"Yeah. Yeah, that's pretty much it. Good, you understood the instructions." answered Mason calmly. If this guy here wasn't a damn criminal, I swear, I'd snap his neck in a second.
"Good luck." he said, as he made his way out of the room.
"Don't worry, you got the night too so study hard!" cheered Eliza as she followed Mason.
HAHAHAHAHA....And I thought Mrs. McClain's surprise tests were torture....
Black Viceroy's Mansion:
Noah's P.O.V:
"Hold up...what did you just say?" I asked, thinking that maybe I'm still having a hangover.
"I can help you get what you want." said the bitch standing in front of me. What was her name..Valentina? Veronica? Something with a 'V', right?
"Yeah? What do you know about what I want?" I asked as I laid back in bed, deciding that this whole conversation is just gonna turn out to be fuckin stupid.
"I don't know much but, all I know is that you got a sick mother, and you're treated as trash by your step-dad because of his real son."
My mind went blank. And then it suddenly became alerted. I found myself shot up from my sleeping position and face towards this blonde bitch who, after seeing my reaction, smiled with a smug.
"Knowing all those things about me doesn't change anything. You can't help me, no one can." I said, trying to keep my cool. Make any more reaction and she's gonna think she won me.
"Oh, but that's where you're wrong, Noah baby...all we need to do is get rid of what's stopping you from attaining true happiness. And I can help you with that!"
"How?"
She looked out in the hallways as if to check if anyone was around or passing by, and when she saw that no one was there, she shut my bedroom door and sat beside me on my bed.
"Now listen, the only reason why Ryan is getting more importance here, besides being the true heir and stuff, is because he's involved with the Golden Lords' heir. The ticket to demolishing the gang, in your dad's eyes."
"Okay, so?"
"I say, why mess around with the little fish who's still learning how to swim, when you can get rid of the main fish who's teaching her?"
