BACK TO LYDIA'S P.OV:
I unsealed the cover of the envelope and found a letter inside. I glanced at the letter inside and slipped it out. Wow, there's a letter and it was for me....
I took a deep breath and began reading it,
'Dear Lydia, I can't believe that you've grown so fast to become a 17-year old smart and beautiful girl. You're just like your parents- Willis Winters and Lillian Winters. They were extraordinary creatures who took birth in this ordinary place. Lydia, your parents may have kept something from you. A very deep secret that affects everything you have in your life. It changes your fate, your destiny, your dreams, your feelings, everything. But before I continue so about the secret, I want you to first know something about the Golden Lords.
The Golden Lords is one of the strongest mafia gangs that ever lived in this city. We do commit crimes and encourage illegal works but we're also very generous and kind-hearted towards the less-fortunate. The Golden Lords was formed initially in the early 1900's. Your father told me that he had gifted you a book about the Black Viceroys and the Golden Lords, on your 16th birthday. Considering your love for historical fiction books, I assume that you have read the book more than twice. You see, the lovers in the story, the plots, the gangs; everything is true. The book is a real-life story.
The Black Viceroys have been our rivals since the very beginning; and it's been our life goal to defeat and destroy the Black Viceroys to become the one and only strongest and powerful mafia gang that ever existed. Because of our strong rivalry, we lost many determined and trustworthy members.
Lydia, I know that you've spent all these years not knowing anything about your father. Well you see, your father was the Leader of The Golden Lords and since you are his daughter....'
"I'm the heir and the true leader of the Golden Lords?!" I shrieked in shock.
No, this couldn't be happening....The Golden Lords isn't a fictional gang in that book of mine?! It's an actual story! The Black Viceroys were real, the love story of those two lovers whose love was forbidden was real and the worst part.....I'm the part of this gang!!!
My dad was working with criminals all this time?! And Mom never stood against it? How can this be possible?! Then I remembered about Dad's private work room where I wasn't allowed to enter. I looked at the letter, crumbled it and threw inside my trashcan. I hurried downstairs to Dad's room and attempted to open it. But it was locked. And...I had no idea where the key was. Fuck!
My parents never came back home. I waited for them the whole afternoon. No sign of them. I waited for them the whole evening. No sign of them. I was all alone. With no one beside me, hugging me, comforting me, telling me that everything's going to be alright.
I know I had wished for a not-normal life earlier but now, I just want my family and my normal life back. Looks like, you have to be careful about what you wish for.....
It was 11:00pm and there I was, curled up in my bed, trying to hold back my tears. I was tired. Maybe I should just get to sleep. I have school tomorrow anyway...
The next morning, I found myself rummaging my house into a complete disaster. What the hell was I doing? I was looking for the fucking key to open my Dad's locked room to find out what else he's been hiding from me. But, my search was in vain. I sighed and looked at my floral wristwatch. It was time to walk to school....oh and yeah, I had to attend detention. But the good side is that I've got Ryan with me.
I was walking along the pathways again; frustrated, confused, upset, lonely.... I took a deep breath when suddenly I heard a voice from behind.
"Hey Lydia, wait up!" cried Ryan as he jogged towards me.
"Ryan!" I exclaimed, trying to hide all these feelings.
"How'd you sleep last night?"
I gulped. Ugh, out of all questions in the history of questions, did he seriously have to ask THIS question?!
"Uh, I slept just fine..." I mummered without looking at his face. I swear, I could feel Ryan staring at me, probably thinking what's up with my weird behavior. Although I trust him and all, I'm just not sure if I should say anything about, you know, whatever happened yesterday.
"Hey, you remember we have to go to detention after school, right?" Ryan asked.
"Please, like I could ever forget that..." I complained.
"Okay Lydia, spill it."
I looked at Ryan with innocent eyes. "Spill what?"
"What's wrong with you? Is everything okay?"
"I'm fine Ryan, thanks for asking."
"Lydia..." I sealed my mouth when he said my name, knowing that if he does that again, I'm going to seriously blabber everything out.
"Yes?" I asked.
"Are you sure that you're fine?"
I wanted to talk about it. Damn it. I wanted to scream. I wanted to yell. I wanted to shout about it. But all I could do was whisper, "I'm fine."
Ryan gave out a deep sigh and managed to crawl his soft fingers into mine. I looked at his sparkling and comforting eyes that made my knees feel weak. A cute smile crept on his lips as he doodled through my auburn hair.
"I know you're not fine at all, and I know nothing of what's troubling you but whatever it is, just know that I will always be there with you and for you." I gently smiled as he caressed my cheek with his thumb.
"C'mon, we're gonna be late for school!" he cried and ran.
"Hey, that's cheating!" I screamed as I ran after him, attempting to reach school before he does, but damn, he's too fast!
