At long last (Mass Effect Fan Fiction)

Killing Time

 Jane stepped into her cabin, sat at her desk, placing the file she held down, and took a bite of her sandwich "Nothing like a dextrose PB&J, all I need is a glass of turian wine, and I'll be all set" She reached over and turned on her terminal hitting the unread message button. There was a message from Miranda about someone hacking into the vid-comm feeds, Jane shook her head thinking "Kasumi is playing with fire". From what she could gather Jacob and Miranda had a thing for each other, Jane wasn't sure if it was still going on, but Kasumi wasn't Miranda's favorite person, and if she finds out she was hacking the system for the sol purpose of watching Jacob's morning workout, she is going to be pissed. Jane replied she would look into it, then typed a reminder in her omni tool to speak to Kasumi. The next message was from the Illusive Man, he forward a dossier on Tali'Zorah.  This was unexpected Jane thought, seeing that the last time she saw Tali, was on Freedom's Progress, a few weeks back, she made it pretty clear that she had "issues" with Cerberus, and wasn't able to join her team. Jane looked through the dossier real quick and decided that the planet Haestron where Tali was is closer to Omega then Illium so maybe they would head there after picking up Archangel before getting the Justicar, and assassin. Her and Tali had become pretty close before she was spaced so even if she couldn't be persuaded to join her new team, it would be good to see her again. The last message was from Kavis her heart skipped a beat, and she had to take a deep breath to stop the rush of heat from traveling through her body. Jane hit the button on her terminal opening the message;

              My Dearest Jane,

   " I can not express the amount of joy, and happiness I felt at receiving  your message. I would be honored to spend time with you when you return to Omega. I will be Counting the hours until our next meeting."

 Jane laughs as she signed off  from her terminal, realizing she also was counting the hours, and  was just as excited at the thought of seeing him again. She picked up the book on the desk, unconsciously lifting it to her nose, inhaling, and rubbing her thumb over the title on the cover before laying on her bed and started to read. A few hours later she fell asleep holding the book close to her chest. 

 The mission hadn't gone quite as planed because..."Of coarse it didn't!" Okeer let loose all his tank bred krogan rejects, Jedot a Blue Sun mercenary tried to kill her and her crew, unsuccessfully, but managed to gas Okeer killing him, leaving her with a tank bread krogan super soldier, who she finally convince she had worthy enemies to fight so he joined her team. All in all, not a bad days work, Jane thought. "Set a course to Omega Joker." "Aye, Aye Commander." "How long before we reach our destination?" "25 hours, we should be docked at Omega by 1800 hours (6 pm) tomorrow" "Thanks Joker." "No problem Commander."

 Jane sent a message to Kavis asking him to meet her in the VIP room of The Afterlife at  1900 hours (7 pm), before she quickly jumped into a tank top and sweat pants, and headed to the crew deck to grab something to eat before heading down to the engineer deck to kill some time working out with Jack. Jane was doing everything she could to keep her mind from thinking about tomorrow, and her golden eyed torian. It was 2200 (10 pm) before Jane returned to her cabin, too exhausted to shower and change from the extensive workout Jack put her through. She plopped on her bed and within minuets was out for the count.
